Victoria, a southern Australian state with a population of 6.4 million people has had 12,335 confirmed Covid-19 cases, and 147 deaths to date.
That's 0.00019% of the population has been infected to date. The infection to death rate is 1.2%. Victoria has just been placed into level 4 lock-down because of panic over new infections, most of whom have zero to mild symptoms.
Less than 2% of those being tested, most of who think they have been exposed, or think they actually have Covid-19, actually test positive. Less than 5% of those who test positive even end up in hospital.
The rate of new infections has been trending down over the last few days, but Victoria were forced into level 4 lock-down under threat of an on the spot fine of $5,000 for breaching isolation.
The fine would increase to $20,000 if you go to court against the matter. If you don't pay the fine you have property sized or you do jail time.
This is totalitarian type government in a State with Covid-19 numbers .OST places around the world would be relieved to have.
Tonight's news informed us that yet again all the deaths were related to aged care facilities.
If the media didn't bang on about meaningless infection rates, citizens would only be concerned about deaths.
If deaths were reported accurately we'd learn they were either occurring in aged care homes or with the already sick people becoming infected and ending up in hospitals.
With the aged care homes there are two issues.
1. Why weren't they protected from infection when we knew the elderly were the most vulnerable the minute we started getting information from Wuhan in January? Well before Australia had their first case.
2. When an elderly person in an aged care facility became Covid-19 infected, why weren't they transferred to a hospital where there are ICU facilities?
Was that government policy? Or had the decision been made by their medical practitioner and/or families, that the person was already so close to death through other ailments, that there was no point transferring them to hospital? If the latter, did they die of Covid-19 or old age?
Thirdly, when are we
going to have an open and honest discussion about many of those dying
with existing multiple co-morbidities?
Sure there are some unfortunate people with congenitive ailments such as type 1 diabetes, heart conditions and immune system disorders which put them at a higher risk of dying.
Most of the non-elderly deaths have been morbidly obese, type 2 diabetics, kidney, cardio-vascular
If you listen to the ICU/CCU doctors and nurses they will talk about how difficult it is to treat these patients. Many have to be intubated immediately because once they are sedated there airways collapse.
They can't be placed in the prone position because their own weight will crush their organs. Their hearts can't cope with the added strain.
Their kidneys can't tolerate the medication and the body's toxicity. They were patients who were told many times they needed to change their lifestyles or risk an early death.
I know because I could have been one of them.
Due to illnesses and injury I let myself go. I became morbidly obese with a BMI of 40.1 I'm embarrassed to admit. That's in the Obese III category. I was on a lot of medication for my other ailments, but the obesity was adding cholesterol, and blood pressure, and pain medication was higher too.
My heart, kidney and liver were all compromised. I was told that I could die of acute renal failure without notice. No doubt had I got COVID-19, or even seasonal influenza, or and other illness, it could have been touch and go.
No
matter what excuses I had for not exercising, I was the only person
responsible for the food I ate. Just as everyone else is responsible
for their diet, alcohol or drug intake. At the end of the day I had to
take responsibility.
The point is, if I'd caught Covid-19 while obese and taking all that lifestyle medication, and I had died, I would have blamed nobody else but myself.
I don't expect fellow citizens to control my lifestyle to reduce my comorbidities. Is it fair and reasonable to expect fellow citizens to restrict their lifestyles, loose their jobs, savings, businesses, simply because I couldn't control my pre-Covid-19 lifestyle?
Should we trash our economy in an attempt to save the lives of people who didn't care about saving their own? Particularly when every vulnerable person, whether aged or with natural or self induced co-morbidities could CHOOSE to self isolate, perhaps with a little government support?
Instead, our politicians have insisted we go down the path of isolating everyone, but with more leaks than a cabinet meeting in that system.
I can't fathom the bleeding obvious mistakes we've made. But more unfathomable is with the benefit of hindsight and lots more information, we continue down the same stupid path - and our mainstream media, who should be asking the hard questions, are as gullible as a BLM/ Extinction Rebellion 'protester'.
I think maybe those on the Left, believe the term 'useful idiot' is a term of endearment.

Do not trust statements like this. It is my practice not to trust anything said by anyone who makes such statements. We do not know the rate of infections to deaths, because we do not know how many are infected.
We cannot know that number until 100% of the population has been tested, and even then we won’t know because the tests are too unreliable. Some of them reveal only that a virus of the Corona family is present, but not which one. It may not be the virus causing Covid19, but may merely be the common cold virus.

In fact I suspect the death rate is probably less.
