The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ

According to John:

After Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron valley to a place where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. 2Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place, because Jesus often met there with his disciples. 3So Judas brought a detachment of soldiers together with police from the chief priests and the Pharisees, and they came there with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4Then Jesus, knowing all that was to happen to him, came forward and asked them, ‘For whom are you looking?’ 5They answered, ‘Jesus of Nazareth.’* Jesus replied, ‘I am he.’* Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. 6When Jesus* said to them, ‘I am he’,* they stepped back and fell to the ground. 7Again he asked them, ‘For whom are you looking?’ And they said, ‘Jesus of Nazareth.’* 8Jesus answered, ‘I told you that I am he.* So if you are looking for me, let these men go.’ 9This was to fulfil the word that he had spoken, ‘I did not lose a single one of those whom you gave me.’ 10Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear. The slave’s name was Malchus. 11Jesus said to Peter, ‘Put your sword back into its sheath. Am I not to drink the cup that the Father has given me?’
Jesus before the High Priest

12 So the soldiers, their officer, and the Jewish police arrested Jesus and bound him. 13First they took him to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. 14Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was better to have one person die for the people.
Peter Denies Jesus

15 Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, 16but Peter was standing outside at the gate. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out, spoke to the woman who guarded the gate, and brought Peter in. 17The woman said to Peter, ‘You are not also one of this man’s disciples, are you?’ He said, ‘I am not.’ 18Now the slaves and the police had made a charcoal fire because it was cold, and they were standing round it and warming themselves. Peter also was standing with them and warming himself.
The High Priest Questions Jesus

19 Then the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching. 20Jesus answered, ‘I have spoken openly to the world; I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I have said nothing in secret. 21Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard what I said to them; they know what I said.’ 22When he had said this, one of the police standing nearby struck Jesus on the face, saying, ‘Is that how you answer the high priest?’ 23Jesus answered, ‘If I have spoken wrongly, testify to the wrong. But if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?’ 24Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.
Peter Denies Jesus Again

25 Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They asked him, ‘You are not also one of his disciples, are you?’ He denied it and said, ‘I am not.’ 26One of the slaves of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, ‘Did I not see you in the garden with him?’ 27Again Peter denied it, and at that moment the cock crowed.
Jesus before Pilate

28 Then they took Jesus from Caiaphas to Pilate’s headquarters.* It was early in the morning. They themselves did not enter the headquarters,* so as to avoid ritual defilement and to be able to eat the Passover. 29So Pilate went out to them and said, ‘What accusation do you bring against this man?’ 30They answered, ‘If this man were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.’ 31Pilate said to them, ‘Take him yourselves and judge him according to your law.’ The Jews replied, ‘We are not permitted to put anyone to death.’ 32(This was to fulfil what Jesus had said when he indicated the kind of death he was to die.)

33 Then Pilate entered the headquarters* again, summoned Jesus, and asked him, ‘Are you the King of the Jews?’ 34Jesus answered, ‘Do you ask this on your own, or did others tell you about me?’ 35Pilate replied, ‘I am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to me. What have you done?’ 36Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.’ 37Pilate asked him, ‘So you are a king?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.’ 38Pilate asked him, ‘What is truth?’
Jesus Sentenced to Death

After he had said this, he went out to the Jews again and told them, ‘I find no case against him. 39But you have a custom that I release someone for you at the Passover. Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?’ 40They shouted in reply, ‘Not this man, but Barabbas!’ Now Barabbas was a bandit.

19Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. 2And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they dressed him in a purple robe. 3They kept coming up to him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ and striking him on the face. 4Pilate went out again and said to them, ‘Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no case against him.’ 5So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, ‘Here is the man!’ 6When the chief priests and the police saw him, they shouted, ‘Crucify him! Crucify him!’ Pilate said to them, ‘Take him yourselves and crucify him; I find no case against him.’ 7The Jews answered him, ‘We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the Son of God.’

8 Now when Pilate heard this, he was more afraid than ever. 9He entered his headquarters* again and asked Jesus, ‘Where are you from?’ But Jesus gave him no answer. 10Pilate therefore said to him, ‘Do you refuse to speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?’ 11Jesus answered him, ‘You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above; therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.’ 12From then on Pilate tried to release him, but the Jews cried out, ‘If you release this man, you are no friend of the emperor. Everyone who claims to be a king sets himself against the emperor.’

13 When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside and sat* on the judge’s bench at a place called The Stone Pavement, or in Hebrew* Gabbatha. 14Now it was the day of Preparation for the Passover; and it was about noon. He said to the Jews, ‘Here is your King!’ 15They cried out, ‘Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!’ Pilate asked them, ‘Shall I crucify your King?’ The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but the emperor.’ 16Then he handed him over to them to be crucified.
The Crucifixion of Jesus

So they took Jesus; 17and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew* is called Golgotha. 18There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them. 19Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, ‘Jesus of Nazareth,* the King of the Jews.’ 20Many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew,* in Latin, and in Greek. 21Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, ‘Do not write, "The King of the Jews”, but, "This man said, I am King of the Jews.” ’ 22Pilate answered, ‘What I have written I have written.’ 23When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took his tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top. 24So they said to one another, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see who will get it.’ This was to fulfil what the scripture says,
‘They divided my clothes among themselves,
and for my clothing they cast lots.’
25And that is what the soldiers did.

Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son.’ 27Then he said to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.

28 After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfil the scripture), ‘I am thirsty.’ 29A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. 30When Jesus had received the wine, he said, ‘It is finished.’ Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Jesus’ Side Is Pierced

31 Since it was the day of Preparation, the Jews did not want the bodies left on the cross during the sabbath, especially because that sabbath was a day of great solemnity. So they asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken and the bodies removed. 32Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who had been crucified with him. 33But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out. 35(He who saw this has testified so that you also may believe. His testimony is true, and he knows* that he tells the truth.) 36These things occurred so that the scripture might be fulfilled, ‘None of his bones shall be broken.’ 37And again another passage of scripture says, ‘They will look on the one whom they have pierced.’
The Burial of Jesus

38 After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, though a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate to let him take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission; so he came and removed his body. 39Nicodemus, who had at first come to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds. 40They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it with the spices in linen cloths, according to the burial custom of the Jews. 41Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. 42And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation, and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Public School Pedophiles

Timothy Birdnow

A Sedalia, Mo. Pedophile and public school teacher was sentenced to prison for raping a then-seven year old boy and trying to hire a hit man to kill the ten year old child to guarantee his silence.

From the article:

Jon Mark Wilson, 58, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison without parole by U.S. District Judge Brian C. Wimes on April 5, 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a Tuesday press release.

A joint federal and state investigation began in January 2019 when a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper and an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives met with a confidential source who claimed the defendant "had solicited him/her to arrange a murder for him,” according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.

Wilson, the law enforcement source noted, had recently been arrested by the Sedalia Police Department for child molestation and related offenses and was ultimately charged with two counts of first degree felony sodomy.

His plan, according to the source, was to avoid prosecution by having the alleged victim, who is now an adult, killed. At the end of that meeting, the ATF agent gave the source a recording device. The source agreed to record Wilson and then introduce him to an undercover agent who would agree to carry out the hit.

I thought it was only Catholic priests who sodomized young boys!

This is the New Man, the type of person the Left is creating. His own sick pleasure and convenience is all that matters. He will destroy a young child's life if it is convenient for him to do so.

But this is old news. There is new news about a public school teacher doing the same.

Deonte Taylor, 36, and his boyfriend Michael Johnson, 66, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in a St. Louis court on Wednesday,KSDK reported.

Taylor was busted in November after his DNA was found to match samples found on his former student.

He’s facing three charges of first-degree statutory sodomy related to the accusation that he took the then-7-year-old boy from class at an elementary school where he worked as a teacher’s assistant in 2015, theSt. Louis Post-Dispatchreported.

Court papers said he took the boy to another room, where the boy performed oral sex on him, KSDK reported.

The boy reported the alleged attack right away, but the investigation lingered after the detective on the case left the department, and charges were not immediately filed.

In the meantime, Taylor got his teaching certificate, and was hired as a teacher by a different school district. He passed a series of background checks despite the open case in his prior district, and was working at a different elementary school when he was arrested, the station reported. That district alerted families about the accusations at Taylor’s former school after he was nabbed.

This illustrates that there is something seriously wrong in our schools. Both of these men had no business being there yet were in intimate contact with young children.

What is being taught to kids with people like this in charge?

If ever we needed proof the public school system is degenerate and in need of not just reform but complete abolition it is this.

Biden Admin, FTC Likely to Try to Stop Musk Twitter Takeover

Timothy Birdnow

The Left is in full panic over the prospects of Elon Musk taking over Twitter - so much so that they are trying to get the FTC to stop him.

From Breitbart:

Friday on Fox Business Network’s "Mornings with Maria,” former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman Harvey Pitt warned of a possible effort by the government or Congress to prevent Tesla CEO Elon Musk from purchasing social media giant Twitter.

Pitt said the Biden administration "is pretty much guaranteed to oppose” Musk’s bid to buy the social media company.

"With respect to this bid, I think the real question is, is it real? If it is real, then I think that there is a serious argument to be made that this is something that the board will have to consider fairly,” Pitt advised. "My own view is that after Musk attacking the board, they will find all sorts of reasons to claim this bid and offer is not in the best interests of Twitter’s shareholders.”

He added, "[M]y concern is that this administration is pretty much guaranteed to oppose this kind of bid. The folks at the SEC are apolitical — at least their enforcement division is — and I would expect them to proceed in a more professional manner, but I think the danger that the government or Congress might intercede in order to prevent this takeover is a very real threat.”

What authority do they have over this? Musk has every legal right to take it over if he chooses. He does not have a monopoly on this, does not own any other social media platform. I can't see how this could be justified.

But the left don't need no STINKING justifications! They will do whatever is in their power to maintain that power. The law be damned.

Sink the Moskva!

Timothy Birdnow

The Ukrainian government is taking credit for sinking Russia's flagship in the Black Sea. And that supposedly with home-made weaponry.

Color me skeptical. But I may be wrong.

I strongly suspect it was U.S. weapons that sunk it, and perhaps it was clandestine U.S. operatives. Or it might have been the Israelis. But I rather doubt that the Ukrainians have the technical ability to do this.

The #Russian missile cruiser #Moskva, flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, sunk after a likely #Ukrainian anti-ship missile strike. The loss, regardless if from a Ukrainian strike or an accident, is a major propaganda victory for Ukraine. https://t.co/Rbmx2E3HWv pic.twitter.com/vex5taoXZf

Abbott Goes Wobbly Again

Timothy Birdnow

Every time I start warming to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott he makes a sharp left turn and loses me.

Here iis a case in point.

To prevent human smuggling Abbott had been mandating inspections of Mexican trucks driving into his state. But he cut a deal with a couple of Mexican states (Tamaulipas and Coahuila) and is taking them at their word that they will inspect the trucks in Mexico, and so is stopping the practice on the American side of the border.

Just taking them at their word! I guess he fails to understand they want these people here and not down there. It becomes our problem.

I can't believe the man is that gullible. More likely he's a believer in the RINO policy of open borders but had to crack down because his own populace demanded it. Now he shows his true colors.

I do not trust Abbott at all. He appears to be a smarmy politician who will blow whatever direction the wind chooses.

More than ever we need leaders with some spine. And we need leaders who understand this illegal immigration and all that goes with it - narcotis smuggling, etc. - must be fought tooth and nail.

In other Texas news, five illegal alien sexual predators were arrested in Texas border towns.

This is what happens when anyone can just stroll right in.

RNC Dumps Commission on Presidential Debates

Timothy Birdnow

Hey, the Republicans are pretty smart imbeciles!

RNC votes to withdraw from Commission on Presidential Debates

That commission is nothing but a tool of the Democrats and the GOP should have seen that at the very beginning.

I hold a dim view of the Presidential debates anyway. They are more about who looks good and gives the slickest answer as opposed to who actually has sound policy and better arguments. Debates were important in the 19th century because there were no adequate outlets for displaying the philosophy and arguments of political leaders. That is not the case today.

The debates are invariably hosted by "mainstream" media people who are rooting for the Democrats and often openly assist them in defeating the Republican. And the media then spins the whole debate after the fact, declaring victory for the liberal no matter how poorly they did.

I'm glad the GOP pulled out. I really see no value in these debates.

RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel had this to say:

"Debates are an important part of the democratic process, and the RNC is committed to free and fair debates," McDaniel said in the statement. "The Commission on Presidential Debates is biased and has refused to enact simple and commonsense reforms to help ensure fair debates including hosting debates before voting begins and selecting moderators who have never worked for candidates on the debate stage."

Better late than never, I suppose. It only took the GOP thirty years to figure that out.

"Today, the RNC voted to withdraw from the biased CPD, and we are going to find newer, better debate platforms to ensure that future nominees are not forced to go through the biased CPD in order to make their case to the Americanpeople," she added.

The RNC went on to list a number of complaints with how the CPD handled previous elections, such as not hosting the first debate in 2020 until 26 states had already begun early voting.

The RNC also complained that a majority of the CPD's board members had publicly disparaged former President Donald Trump prior to the debates.

Former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign made many of the same complaints during the 2020 election.

No mention of the open hostility displayed by previous debate moderators to the Republican candidates. But I guess that was just a given.

Before the Commission was put in place there were a number of platforms. The League of Women Voters, for instance, hosted one such. While there was bias then the debates could be hosted by multiople platforms, making it harder to systemically discriminate. Putting it in the hands of the government only guaranteed efforts to control the debates by the Deep State were successful.

An electric vehicle battery company that industry insiders thought would make batteries in Michigan for the Chevy Volt made national news in 2013 for a different reason. That’s when a federal audit reported it was paying employees to watch movies and play cards. The audit reported that LG Chem Michigan hadn’t produced a single battery in the four years since it was awarded $250 million in state and federal government subsidies.

If Slavery was the Reason for the Civil War...

Chester McAteer

It’s a funny thing how some people find it easy to condemn the South and indeed, I’ve had people condemn my ancestors, even though my family has been in this country since the landing at both James Fort [Jamestown] in 1607 and at Plymouth Plantation, arriving on the Mayflower in 1620.

The point is if your family has been in this country for a few hundred years, then the likelihood is that somewhere in your ancestry there are those who either were involved with slavery directly or indirectly, in fact, you may even have Confederate blood in your lineage, despite your race. It’s also a good point to remember that the Good Ole Stars and Stripes flew over the institution of Slavery much longer than the Stars and Bars, yet it is the Confederate Flag that’s derided.

What few people realize is that the first colony to legalize Slavery was not in the South, but it was in Massachusetts, the first legal Slave owner was himself a Black man who was a former Slave. In fact, Slavery was common in the New England Colonies before it became prevalent in the Southern Colonies. For instance, Massachusetts Colony legalized Slavery in 1641, The Colony of Virginia did 20 years later in 1661.

There were several groups, like the Puritains, in the North that publicly denounced Slavery but belonged to investment groups that owned large Slave holding plantations in the South and the Caribbean. In fact, the largest Slave Plantation in Alabama was owned by a Northern Syndicate from New York.

It was a common practice for those types of cooperatives in the North to purchase and be absentee managers of Slave Plantations in the Southern States, all the while condemning Slavery with their left fist and profiting from it with their concealed right hand. Let’s not forget the Slave Trade itself, it was still operating out of New England during the War, and after, selling their cargo to the various markets in the Caribbean, South America and to Arab countries.

Today, you may know the names of prestigious Universities or even do business with huge Northern corporations that got their start with monies from the trade of Slaves. Here are but a few: Yale University, Harvard, Princeton, Penn State,Columbia, Rutgers, Brown,Dartmouth and the University of Delaware. As far as businesses are concerned, perhaps you’ve heard of a few of these large corporations which began either in the Slave Trade of from Slave profits: AGI, Aetna, Bank of America, Brooks Brothers, Brown Brothers Harriman, CSX, Fleet Boston, J.P. Morgan Chase, New York Life, Tiffany’s, USA Today, Wells Fargo and the list goes on.

Another interesting and often overlooked fact is that 5 Slave States, if count New Jersey, remained in the Union, totally unmolested by Lincoln’s government. Of course, the commonly accepted and popular mythology is that the South Seceded to save the Institution of Slavery, if that’s in fact the case then why didn’t 5 Slave States Secede, did they stay in the Union to protect Slavery? Of course not, because the issue of Slavery was not primary but ancillary to the cause of Secession which was based upon the overwhelming issue of tariffs. The Southern States contained less than 40% of the population and yet it was both directly and indirectly paying 85% of the tariff. Facts are hard taskmasters, they can be avoided and ignored but rarely can they be denied once revealed.

I’ll leave you on this note, if the War was primarily about saving Slavery then why did the majority of the Confederate Leadership share the opinion of that Great American General Robert E. Lee and if Secession was about saving Slavery in the South, why didn’t the Southern States simply accept Lincoln’s deal, return to the Union and have Slavery Constitutionall y protected in perpetuity with the Corwin Amendment? The illegal invasion and destruction of the South could have been avoided simply by returning to the Union, but Slavery was not the primary cause of Secession, had it been then the South would have rejoined the Union, and the Northern States would have preserved it forever where it existed.

"There is a terrible war coming, and these young men who have never seen war cannot wait for it to happen, but I tell you, I wish that I owned every slave in the South, for I would free them all to avoid this war.”

—General Robert E. Lee

Spectacular FBI Fail

Warner Todd Huston

How many times are we going to see the FBI fail? It seems the only thing they care about is imprisoning conservatives. Every terror suspect who has killed in the last 15 years have ALL been on the FBI's watch list. Yet, the FBI only arrests and persecutes Republicans. And tonight we have it again. The New York Subway shooter was in the so-called FBI watchlist, but he killed people anyway.

Tim adds:

FBI - Fairly Basic Idiots. That is, if you believe they ARE idiots and not actually a political organization. Ambrose Evans Pritchard wrote The Secret Life of Bill Clinton and spent the first half of the book recounting the folly of the FBI and other agencies in not stopping the Oklahoma City bombing (they ahd more agents there than there were terrrorists.)

Space Cadets

Bill H.
Tthe "general in charge of US Space Force,” is reported by NBC News to have "accused Russia of interfering with US satellite GPS signals in Ukraine.” Well, duh.

Disrupting your enemy’s command and control systems is de rigueur in war.

The GPS is what Ukraine uses to guide the missiles and drones it is shooting at Russia, and to track and guide their military formations. Why would Russia not interfere with those signals in wartime? They would be stupid not to interfere with their enemy’s ability to shoot missiles accurately.

I happen to think that US Space Force is stupid in its entirety anyway. It should have its own academy so that we could have real live "Space Cadets.” And here we have its top general accusing Russia of the heinous and nefarious deed of interfering with GPS signals to confuse its enemy.

Earth Spinning Faster

Richard Cronin

In 1990 Williams et al (Univ. of California) published that at the Core Mantle Boundary (CMB) Iron Sulfide melts to release sulfur and the molten Iron joins with the molten Iron/Nickel Outer Core, effectively consolidating greater mass towards the Earth’s core. Therefore, it is logical that the planet’s rotation would speed up. Thus it has.

Of particular note is that this speed up began about 50 years ago, the 1970s, when we were gravely warned that the planet was headed into another Ice Age, but then the uptick in warmth began in the 1980s.

"Earth’s rotation has been speeding up lately, and it’s currently spinning faster than it has in the last 50 years.”
