If we had there would be a robust market for electric cars and the government wouldn't have to subsidize and mandate their sale. That this is occurring is proof they aren't ready for prime time.

Elon Musk nailed it when he talked about subsidies. I doubt that EVs will never be anything more than expensive toys for rich people who buy into the Climate Change agenda. Why else have one?

Brings to mind a television series that was on USA Network that was about a romance between a guy who was an Italian chef who sidelined as a hit man who disposed of the bodies in his cousin's crematory and a lady who was a con artist. They were fleeing a crime with a body in the trunk of their electric car and the battery died while they were frantically searching for a charging station. He was driving and she was frantically reading maps when the car quit.

I guess the way recharging cars works is that you drive up to a station at your local supermarket (Hy-Vee has them here), plug the car in and indulge yourself in two hours of food shopping. I don't like to take that long in a store (I'm Mr. In-And-Out, and my wife is like unto me). As far as gassing up both my cars, their tanks are relatively small and I can accomplish a fillup in a few minutes, which is easy enough even in the middle of a Minnesota winter.

And all you have to do is jump your car if the battery is dead. If the EV is dead?
These things just aren't worth the trouble. They are tech that I suspect will never succeed - like the old steam cars, or lighter than air travel. They work but not well enough.
