A long while back, when John Bolton was acting U.N. Ambassador, I attended a discussion he had at a Barnes & Noble store in New York City. I suggested to Mr. Bolton that if the U.N. really believed their own statements about global warming and the seas scheduled to rise thirty meters, then why didn't the U.N. move its headquarters from the East River waterfront in New York (connected about twenty miles from the open Atlantic Ocean) to a new headquarters inland, located in Pittsburgh. Mr. Bolton chuckled at my sarcastic suggestion.

I now offer a somewhat similar suggestion to the U.S. Congress. If they believe that fossil fuels are so bad, then why don't the put solar panels on the roof of the Capitol and have wiring connecting the Capitol to solar panels making electricity in the Virginia countryside? I could make a similar statement about concerning wind turbines in Virginia but the Halls of Congress would also be a great source of hot air wind energy, although the turbines would be somewhat noisy and drown out the speeches in Congress (not a bad byproduct).

Why hasn't Nancy Pelosi started commuting from California to Washington on a solar powered airplane? They exist but are experimental and not as fast as a Boeing jetliner. And I could see Chuck Schumer and AOC working one of those hand carts on a railroad track that one sees in old movies.

But we all know that Congress will not take my suggestion because they live in a fantasy world, similar to that old joke about the economist stuck on a desert isle with a chemist and a physicist.

Three men were shipwrecked on a desert island along with crates of canned food and no can opener. The chemist found some plants which he boiled with the help of his cigarette lighter and made an acid that ate through the top of the food cans so he had what to eat. The physicist tied a rock with some vines to a branch and made a lever which he forcefully used to hit a food can, breaking it open to supply him with food. The third man, an economist merely made one of his standard theoretical pronouncements, "Assume a Perfect Economy" - and he died of starvation. Most of us Deplorables don't want to join with an economist or a politician in mouthing platitudes that may or may not become true in fifty or one hundred years while we and our families starve and freeze in the meantime.

Gee, I wonder if Bill Gates flies on jet planes or takes a bicycle on his trips to Washington, D.C., or elsewhere. Well, the bike may be in the cargo section of the plane he flies on.
