Owens, Hitler, and the Democrats

Hitler didn't snub Owens but Roosevelt did. According to the Encyclopedia Brittanica:

Both were solidly socialist, with government control of almost all economic activity, with government involvement in almost every facet of life, including culture and religion. The only "conservative" thing about the Fascists and Nazis was they didn't nationalize industries, preferring to simply exercise control while the "owners" were relegated to managerial positions for the party (kind of like China today).
In fact, the Bolsheviks in Germany were supportive of Nazism early on, with a slogan "first Brown then Red". They saw it as a step between Capitalism and Communism.
