It's O.K. to Lynch a Black Man if He Supports Trump

Timothy Birdnow

The media not only doesn't care but probably thinks justice is served because a black guy supporting Trump may is a despicable renegade in their minds. It's disgraceful! I hope the Feds really do something about this. It's well past out of hand.

I guess it's o.k. to lynch a black man if he supports Trump! Not all Black Lives Matter...

Arguing with Idiots: Covid 19 Edition

Timothy Birdnow

Here is a thread that may be of interest to Aviary readers. James Doogue made this case:

We agreed to flatten the curve and stop hospitals being overwhelmed. When did the goal become not having any new infections no matter how mild?

By this time in the flu season we would normally have had over 400 deaths in Australia. We've had about 130 alleged Covid-19 related deaths so far. Do we lock down the economy every flu season?

Some people are saying but if we hadn't had the lockdown, there would have been thousands of deaths. But that's assuming a false dichotomy between a lockdown and doing nothing.

Isolating the old and the vulnerable in an efficient manner, dealing with the cruise ship passengers as if they were all infected, and having a better quarantine system such as the tracking employed overseas, would have saved more than 95% of the Covid-19 deaths we have had in Australia - at least from dying of Covid-19.

The only things we had to do to save almost all lives from dying from Covid-19 was:

- Lock-down the international borders until there is an efficient vaccine, or good quarantine and tracking system in place.

- Improve hygiene in terms of hands and surfaces, not going out if you have symptoms, and wearing a mask if you feel the need, where social distancing isn't practical.

- Assist the elderly and vulnerable to self isolate and be protected from the infected. Visitors and the elderly and vulnerable should wear masks when together. Even in the same household.

Locking down and restricting young, healthy people trashed our economy and society for the sake of saving people getting mild to no symptoms if they caught Covid-19.

Normally at this time at least 1 in 40 (2.5%) of the population would be suffering cold and flu like symptoms every day. Almost half the population would have suffered cold or flu symptoms by the end of the flu season.

That's millions infected, 1,500 to 3,000 deaths, about 18,000 hospitalisation s and 300,000 GP consultations each year. But we don't lock down the economy for the cold and flu season.

Our government, the media, and most of the public in Australia and around the world were panicked into unnecessary drastic action and nobody wants to admit that.

So now they've changed the goal from flattening the infection curve to limit pressure on the health services, to now stopping all infections.

On that basis, we will never be able to fully open the economy, unless we admit that is an unnecessary goal, or until we have an efficient vaccine.

Peter responded:

There's always someone who has all the answers... and you're it!
For a start do you really mean dichotomy?
Comparing this virus to the flu is simply not scientifically or epidemiological
ly rational I suggest you go do that research ... a couple of pointers covid is a factor of 100 times more infectious than any flu since the initial H1N1/A strain. It is also 10 times more lethal than 2019 flu types at 10/1000 against 1/1000. It does not behave like the flu in any way useful for actual scientific comparison.

It is thought that up to 50% of cases in young people may be asymptomatic. As for locking down young folk .... just think about it for 10 seconds and it might just dawn on you.

I responded:

Peter LaMay's stats all come from the WHO or the CDC, both of which have been proven to be suspect. In fact, we have NO IDEA of the infectivity as we don't know who is infected; until recently we were only testing those who were sick, and even now we have a lot of suspect data with that (people who didn't get tested are receiving reports saying they are positive, for instance.) The arrogance of people like Peter Lamay is astonishing because he and the rest of the panic-stricken assure us of how much they know when so much of it just isn't so.

Considering the Wuhan guidelines handed out call for anyone dying with Covid to be listed as a Covid death the data are quite skewed on the death rate. I quote the guidelines from the CDC:

"In cases where a definite diagnosis of COVID cannot be made but is suspected or likely (e.g.the circumstances are compelling with a reasonable degree of certainty) it is acceptable to report COVID-19 on a death certificate as 'probable' or 'presumed.'" End quote.

As a result, we don't know the death rate. We also don't know the infectivity. And as for Peter LaMay's last assertion:

"It is thought that up to 50% of cases in young people may be asymptomatic"

That means this disease is far less dangerous than the numbers he cited; we have a lot of people with it who never knew it and haven't been tested. Drops the mortality rate down, and likely the R nought too.

Oh, and Wuhan is largely non-infective from children. https://www.uvm.edu/uvmnews/news/kids-rarely-transmit-covid-19-say-uvm-docs-top-journal And kids are unlikely to die from it.
https://medium.com/m/global-identity?redirectUrl=https%3A%2F%2Ffreopp.org%2Festimating-the-risk-of-death-from-covid-19-vs-influenza-or-pneumonia-by-age-630aea3ae5a9
They state:

"Under our assumptions, for example, school-aged children between 5 and 14 have a 1 in 200,000 chance of dying of influenza, but a 1 in 2.5 million chance of dying of COVID-19. For toddlers, the relative risk is even more pronounced. We estimate that Americans between ages 1–4 are 20 times more likely to die of influenza than of COVID-19."

So his last assertion is invalid.

By the way, we WANT young people to get this; they will get over it and help lead us to herd immunity, something the much maligned Sweden has likely achieved by not locking down. https://www.businessinsider.com/sweden-coronavirus-cases-deaths-fall-not-mean-lockdown-plan-worked-2020-7

This issue has been horribly muddied by desperate political machinations, largely designed to advance Progressive social causes and remove Donald Trump.

Peter didn't like that and he shot back:

Timothy ... who proves the WHO and CDC 'suspect'?
And btw you expect to be credible when you can't manage to correctly spell my name.
It isn't easy to get to the facts but just as clearly it isn't some global conspiracy.
If your arguments were correct then action taken in key states in the US would be doing fine .... where the ill- informed have acted as you suggest death rates have risen dramatically.
You are out to prove something but I'm not. My interest is solely in understanding this disease and why countries have done what they have done. The original post was about young people not children.
Anyway you are convinced of something but it is not clear what that it while it obviously includes a belief that most of the world has got it completely wrong and you are right. Beyond that it is not clear what you are trying to achieve.

And my reply:

"where the ill- informed have acted as you suggest death rates have risen dramatically. " No they are not. In fact, the U.S. is at the point where we are largely nearly out of an epidemic, Peter LeMay. (BTW, I apologize for misspelling your name. I am vision impaired and sometimes miss typos.) Covid CASES have been rising while the actual number of deaths has been in decline. Oh, and why is it that California is seeing a big rise? In fact, most of the states hardest hit with Covid were blue, Democratic controled states that instituted strict quarantine and social distancing policies. Explain that please. IF what you say is true then those states should be doing better than everyone else. They aren't. OF COURSE you are going to see a spike in cases now as testing has ramped up and and much of the country has been exposed to the virus by now.As for the data problems, the World Health Organization has been in bed with Communist China and has been a willing accomplice. Their data has been bad since this thing ramped up. See https://www.foxnews.com/world/world-health-organization-coronavirus-what-went-wrong and if you don't like Fox try The Atlantic, a liberal publication. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/04/world-health-organization-blame-pandemic-coronavirus/609820/ As for the CDC, they are the ones who issued the guidelines telling doctors to list COVID as cause of death even if someone was hit by a car if they tested positive. That right there disqualifies them from serious consideration; they clearly have a vested interest in upping the numbers.Again the Atlantic https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2020/05/cdc-and-states-are-misreporting-covid-19-test-data-pennsylvania-georgia-texas/611935/ and https://www.businessinsider.com/why-the-cdc-coronavirus-data-is-so-bad-2020-5 It's fairly clear there is a desire to promote alarmism where this disease is concerned. We have NEVER reacted this way to a pandemic before (and there were ones in 1957 and '68 that, adjusted for the population, were as bad or worse than the current Wuhan virus in the U.S.). Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. We didn't get that. This whole thing was set in motion by a computer model from a researcher - Nial Ferguson - at London's Imperial College. He himself has even admitted he was wrong. His model has been disproven. https://www.heritage.org/public-health/commentary/failures-influential-covid-19-model-used-justify-lockdowns What am I trying to achieve? I'm trying to get the truth out and restore sanity. We are going to kill millions of people with our response and profoundly change our society. Freedoms are being lost. Revolution is stirring. And all because of bad data, lies, power grabs, and stupidity. The world is moving forward in blind panic, using scary scenarios and bad data. And it's not even "the world" but rather the media and key government-funded scientific organizations. There are plenty of scientists who think this is insane; I'm friends on Facebook with many of them. But they aren't the ones the media will quote because they urge restraint. How many tinpot dictators have been newly minted as a result of this? J.B. Pritzker, Andrew Cuomoo, etc. And, frankly, I didn't like your attitude with James, which is why I jumped in. YOU brought up children, I might add, which is why I refuted it. YOU clearly have an agenda.

Trump ends AFFH

Dana Mathewson

It couldn't have happened too soon! Thank you and bless you, Mr. President!

I've been writing often about how Joe Biden has promised to end the suburbs, by outlawing single-family dwellings there. Well, now he can't.

From Power Line:

The Trump administration has ditched the Obama administration’s "Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” rule (AFFH). As we have often reported, AFFH is a vast social engineering project that enables the federal government to order more than 1,200 cities and counties that accept any part of annual community development block grants to rezone neighborhoods along income and racial criteria. It thus allows unaccountable federal bureaucrats to dictate who lives where, in order to create racially and economically balanced neighborhoods. It effectively abolishes self-government in the suburbs.

I’m surprised that it took the Trump administration three-and-half years to revoke AFFH. To be fair, though, Ben Carson’s Department of Housing and Urban Development effectively rendered AFFH a dead letter during those three-and-half years. The important thing was to take it off the books before Trump leaves office.

With that now accomplished, AFFH can become an important issue in the presidential election. The Biden campaign will claim that scrapping it is evidence that Trump supports housing discrimination — more evidence of his alleged racism.

As so often in the law, one thing often means another. AFFH appeared to prevent housing discrimination, but it also prevented single-family housing in the suburbs (I've posted many articles about this in these pages). Single-family housing has nothing to do with racism. There are black families living two and three doors up from me in single-family homes here in the 'burbs.

Cardinals go Woke

Timothy Birdnow

Black Lives Matter (aka Black Lies Muttered) is a racist and terrorist organization hell-bent on "canceling" America. So why did the St. Louis Cardinals and other baseball teams promote them in their season opener?

The Cardinals all wore BLM shirts in the pregame and even people like Adam Wainwright stood with them.

There is no sensible business reason to do this. It was undoubtedly a condition for them to have a home opener.

Augustus Busch is rolling over in his grave!

Baseball was the one thing free of politics. Now we do not even have that.

We are going to have to push back hard against this; we are in the throes of a full blown revolution, which includes so many of our formerly beloved institutions.

America is going to die. And so many are snoozily letting it be murdered.

Cuomo Kills Blue Lives Matter Rally

Timothy Birdnow

A major "Back the Blue" rally was canceled when the guest speakers - Ted Nugent and Congressman Paul Butler - were not allowed to attend by New York authorities.

From the article:

But what happened today? Today it became evident just how legitimate the war on law enforcement is.

Congressman Clay Higgins and Ted Nugent are not allowed to attend the event… and that apparently comes directly from Governor Cuomo’s office.

Within hours of announcing that they’d be at the rally, Democrats throughout New York demanded the event be shut down. It was the typical liberal playbook – everyone that doesn’t toe the line is a racist, sexist, xenophobe, Islamaphobe, etc.

That didn’t work. Because the last we checked, it’s America. We have yet to see anyone shut down Al Sharpton from speaking at an event, or the self-proclaimed Marxists affiliated with Black Lives Matter.

So they tried a new approach. The state police detail ensuring the security of Congressman Higgins and Ted Nugent were told they weren’t allowed to offer protection.

Their careers were threatened. Then their families were threatened.

So we came up with a new plan. We had dozens of Blue Knights who were going to provide safe passage.

And that’s when the governor apparently pulled the ultimate "trump” card. He instructed the health department to ensure that upon landing in the state, Congressman Higgins and Ted Nugent would either be turned around and sent back… or forced into a mandatory 14 day quarantine.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, a politician facing ethical issues, took to social media on Thursday to call Nugent a racist. She quickly came under attack on social media.

On Friday night, in a desperate attempt to save face, she blamed the pandemic.

So the authorities have been encouraging BLM and Antifa to loot and riot but won't allow a protest to back the police.

Is this still America? It looks less and less like the country we knew.

Don't Bother Me with Notions of Supply and Demand

Timothy Birdnow

AARP, the aggressive silver socialists, has somehow put me on their Facebook feed. I don't like it, but it's there and occasionally I amuse myself by leaving snarky comments.

Today they started a thread:

Disinfectant sprays, along with other cleaning supplies, are hard to find. Here's why – and what to do about it.

Stores Face Lysol Shrtage Due to Coronavirus

A commenter left the following:

Just one more way the government is putting its control over again. First a lockdown which was sort of understandable,
now the mask switch I can kind of understand but there's now a change shortage, and a shortage on all supplies. Laundry detergent toilet paper napkins any kind of disinfectant wipes. Thank God for Clorox bleach

She was immediately slammed by a  silver socialists named April:

The government doesn't control those companies it greedy people that have caused this shortage! Get a clue!

I replied:

Consumers don't cause shortages April Evansart! The market adjusts. If there is a shortage of any commodity it's generally because of a break in the supply chain. How many of these products are manufactured overseas? Get a clue.

Oh, and how much has been hoarded by GOVERNMENT? I'll bet FEMA has mountains of the stuff. Just like when we had shortages of ammunition because government was buying it all up, remember that?

This illustrates how ignorant so many in this country are of the laws of supply and demand. It also bespeaks a huge disconnect, a willingness to trust our government and our leadership despite their having proven themselves time and again to be unworthy of that trust.

I doubt this gal will reply.

I added this on a different comment in the thread:

A lot of this stuff comes from overseas, particularly China, and so we just aren't getting it. I do wonder, though; during the Obama Administration we had a shortage of ammunition and it was because the Administration was buying up all the bullets. Every department of the Executive Branch was buying it up, including NASA and the Department of Education. It was an artificial shortage. I wonder if that isn't happening now, if FEMA isn't overstocking. Normally suppliers ramp up production to meet increased demand. In fact, back in March I read where a number of manufacturers swore America wouldn't face shortages of these commodities like they were then having in Asia. So what happened? Clearly they weren't able to get as much as needed and didn't plan properly. Or they did but someone gobbled the extra supply up.If nothing else this should be a cautionary tale about the dangers of globalism; one break in the supply chain and everyone is scrambling for scraps.

Truckers Say No To Defund

Timothy Birdnow

79% of truck drivers say they will not deliver to cities that defund the police.

A survey by CDL Life found that:

Truck drivers have spent the last year on the front line of a global pandemic and protests. Now many are fearful of what might happen if police departments disband or are defunded.

Truck drivers have been voicing their concerns on the CDLLife App. After reading about their concerns, CDLLife posted a poll on the app.

We asked drivers on the app, "Would you pick up/deliver to cities with defunded or disbanded police departments? Why or why not?”

As of June 13, 2020, we’ve had over 1,283 respondents and 79% say they will refuse loads to cities with disbanded or defunded police departments.

Here are some of their responses:

"…if something was to happen and you have to take matters into your own hands, and then you risk being prosecuted for protecting yourself.”

"This is not an area you need to act fearless and think you you’d look like a fool for saying no…Imagine what kind of fool you look like for driving into a hot spot and putting your life in danger.”

"I will not deliver to an area with a disbanded police department. My life matter and I do this for my family. We are already at the mercy of these towns and cities with laws and hate against us for parking, getting a meal or even using a restroom.”

"Simple. We may not like it all the time, but laws and order is necessary.”

"Most places we go already can be dicy an about only time you see a cop is when lights is on behind you.”

"For my own safety and security of my customers’ loads, I have already informed my dispatcher that I will refuse all loads to cities that have defunded their police departments.”

How are these cities going to function without deliveries? I suppose the states in question will pass a law ordering truckers to deliver, but if they don't comply? Woke feelings don't go far towards filling an empty belly.

Truckers are the last bastion of old time Americanism (or one of them) and not only are truckers angry at the childish anti-americanism we have been witness to but also are not going to risk their lives and their vehicles.

They control the supply chain. If they stop coming the goods run out. It really is that simple.

Progressive Boot Camp Redux

Timothy Birdnow

I wrote "Progressive Boot Camp" back in 2016. It was pertinent back then but even more so today. The description of the purposes of hair cutting and other activities done by the military to turn raw recruits into soldiers is eerily similar to the demand we wear masks today. I reproduce the entire article here:

A thought occurred to me the other day, which does actually happen to me now and then; the whole of modern culture, the political correctness, the way the left approaches the rest of us, is very much a kind of boot camp for communism. The purpose of military boot camp is to break down the individual, to wed him to the group, to get him to believe things and do things that are clearly irrational, and to get him to obey orders unquestioningly. In the military this serves a real purpose, because a soldier has to act in ways contrary to personal interest and security.

Here is a good explanation of the purpose of boot camp from a Marine drill instructor:

"You have to train 18-year-olds to run to the sound of gunfire and perform under fire and the threat of death.

This act defies all logic, goes against all human instinct, and takes one of the most intensive acts of psychological reprogramming to overcome”

Which is precisely what the Progressive Left must do; convince the public to defy logic, to defy human instinct, to fundamentally reprogram the American citizen.

The article continues:

"Another thing that is important is that everything they do is for a purpose, a rehearsed, manufactured, and engineered purpose.

It is about something else entirely.

[...]

"The most important single thing to know about boot camp is that it is 100 percent designed to reprogram children and civilians into warriors. It places within them a sense that they are expected to do important things, far more important things than could be expected from other 18-year-olds. This is all happening during one of the most intensely stressful periods of your life, when you are kept isolated from contact with your family and friends and taught that everything you were before entering the Marines was weak and lacking any real value until you too are a Marine. Cults are made this way too. I’m just saying. But in all seriousness, the psychological transformation of boot camp is a very intense and intentional effort by the Marine Corps to make warriors able to fight and kill out of kids who have just barely left high school. From the point that you graduate boot camp, you will be different and have parts of the Marine Corps culture as part of your psyche.”

See where I’m going with this? Everything the Progressives do has a purpose, and usually not the one that is stated by them. Gay marriage, for instance, or transgendered bathrooms, or Black Lives Matter uprisings, have little to do with fairness for homosexuals and everything to do with breaking down the dominant culture.

It recruits a certain number of children or young people and turns them into social justice warriors, telling them they are fighting for freedom and justice. Those who won’t joint the campaigns are seen as the enemy, and are forced into silence through shaming, through bullying, through acts of aggression. You are taught that everything you were was weak and pathetic, oppressive and, well, wrong or even evil. You have to change, to become one of them.

Some of the ways that this is done is through a series of extremely well planned and timed events that, by themselves, are meaningless, but when strategically combined together will change a person.

The idea is to change people. While some won’t go along, many others - particularly the youths - will embrace the change, become social justice warriors.

The article continues:

"Receiving is a period before training. You arrive at boot camp, but for the first week or so, you don’t actually train. You are just doing paperwork to get into the federal documentation system. You will receive all your gear and start your initial process into "getting ready” for bootcamp. But it’s the way you do it that is important. The entire time you are yelled at, screamed at, hurried, and stressed. But there is more.

From the first moment you arrive, you are now neck-deep in terror.

  1. Everything the drill instructor does has purpose; everything. It may seem funny to you, but it is all crucial and instructional in some way.
  2. They are being yelled at before they ever set foot off the bus. You can hear this if you begin listening immediately.
  3. Within 5 minutes, 200+ individuals with no group training at all have been trained by drill instructions on how to: listen and learn while at bootcamp, respond to instruction, stand in formation, and move as a unit. They have also all been read their rights and responsibilities as recruits and in single file moved to a different area. You will not appreciate the magnitude of this.
  4. Every word the drill instructor is saying is memorized.
  5. No recruit will be physically touched by a drill instructor. In fact, they won’t be touched by one, ever. Surprised?
  6. This is a ceremony that has taken place every week for every new group of recruits for decades. It is very well-rehearsed and very well-engineered. As I said before, everything a drill instructor does has purpose.

As I said, this is just the first five minutes. There are three more months of this.”

Does that sound familiar? To any conservative it should; it’s the exact approach used by the Progressive Left to advance their agenda. They yell, they scream, they demand obedience. This is especially true on college campuses where students face chanting mobs and professors who ask for "muscle” to intimidate individuals who are not on board with the program. They organize marches. They organize squatter’s camps. They get everybody moving, and even those who oppose them wind up moving in the direction they want by virtue of having to address the initiative.

Consider; during the protests at the University of Missouri Columbia students were intimidated into wearing pro-protest tee shirts or adopting black colors and were pressured to join the protests. This is a way of breaking the individual as a person, to making him or her feel to be part of this revolutionary group.

Let us continue:

"Why is the haircut so important? It is part of the erosion of individuality. What? Yes, the erosion of individuality. Why should a warrior lose his individuality? It is what makes him special and unique. It is what makes him valuable. Well, that’s the problem. Individuality makes them special and unique. It makes them feel that they might be above someone or something else. They are better than the orders they might receive. They are too good for something. Not at boot camp. From Day 1, everyone is the same. In fact, during my time, being called "an individual” was an insult as it meant that you were a person who couldn’t put the needs of the unit first. Yes, individuality is repressed as they will spend the next three months dressed the same, act the same, and look the same.”

Which is exactly what the Liberals are always seeking to do, to break the individuality of the American People. They do this by promoting a series of counter-cultural issues, by establishing group identities, for instance. You aren’t an American who happens to be black, for instance; you are an AFRICAN AMERICAN and you must obey the guidelines of this group. That is why black people who go to school, get educated, get a good job, and advance through merit are despised; they are working as "white people” and are not seen as authentically Black. Being Black means growing up poor and living poor, being hyper sensitive to your racial identity, dressing a certain way, listening to certain music, wearing your hair a certain way. Even if you are the child of privilege (as one of the leaders of the Mizzou was; his father was a railroad executive and had a net worth over seven million dollars) you must hide it, must subsume yourself into the group, just as a soldier must forget he’s a civilian and must adopt the identity of his military. We see that in the gay community; most homosexuals see themselves not as people who happen to be gay but as gays. It makes it nearly impossible to exit the homosexual lifestyle once you think of yourself as having an identity that is tied to your sexual behavior. In fact, the gay community has a very odd, indeed psychotic, disordered type of person known as bug chasers.Bug chasers are homosexuals who actively seek to become infected with the HIV virus. Why? It is a form of graduation from boot camp, and makes them "authentically” gay. So they seek to become sick with an incurable disease simply to prove to themselves and the world they are homosexual. Group identity has come to redefine them to the point they are willing to be sick the rest of their lives, pay enormous amounts for medical care, and possibly die young of a horrible illness.

Being a bug chaser sounds a lot like becoming a soldier; in both instances you are taught to put yourself in peril in ways that defy sanity and logic to adhere to the group standard. The soldier does it to protect his home and country. The homosexual to promote a revolutionary ideology.

Don’t even get me started on Feminism, which is obviously a radical cultish phenomenon. Or Marxist economics. Or any other liberal group.

Let’s move on with the article:

"Now we move on to something else very important and why I say that it is "psychological” retraining. You go through the next few days running from place to place, doing this, that, this, that and you won’t even realize ... you haven’t slept in three days. Yeah, you will go about three days without sleep upon arrival. The whole time you are completely exhausted while running on adrenaline and hearing over and over, that you are inferior. Inferior to real Marines, which you aren’t yet. You aren’t thinking about it, but it is sinking in. You are completely tired and these things build up. Without realizing it, you start to believe that that which is being told to you is true, that there is a weakness in you and that you are less than perfect. In your current state, you believe them and that you must change to be good enough. But there is something important you as the reader need to know.

"To be a Marine and to go to war, it is true.

"There are many habits that kids and civilians have that have to be unlearned. Like we said, they have to run into battle and that sense of self-preservation is damaging to the mission.”

Isn’t this exactly what Americans are told every single day? We are weak, useless maggots! America was corrupt to the core, founded by racists and plutocrats, guilty, guilty, guilty! We had slaves! We kept women barefoot and pregnant, denying them the vote! We had economic inequality! And the drumbeat is daily, always about how rotten our nation is and only now, in the loving hands of the Progressive Left, do we have a chance to become something of merit.

Let us continue:

"Physical training takes many forms, but generally centers on building instant obedience to orders over actual exercise. Most of the time, it centers on listen and do what you are told, get through the exercise, and get out of the situation before you are yelled at.”

Now here we can see an almost exact correlation between Progressivism and military boot camp. What is Michelle Obama doing with her "Let’s Move!” campaign? Her big push to slim down children and adults is not so much about health as the above; it is intended to establish who is boss and to make the American People do what they are told. Manipulation of diet and exercise has always been a tool to break down the personality. Consider how the U.S. broke Khalid Sheikh Mohammad. (It must also be pointed out that we used nudity as well, something that has always been recognized as a powerful depersonalizing tool. Public nudity and the death of modesty have been at the forefront of the Progressive campaign to fundamentally change America. Celebrities walk around half naked these days and the youths are taught that this is chic, hip, cool. But it breaks down their individuality, which is the point.)

Our Marine friend continues:

"Isolation from the Outside: What you may not know is that in some branches of the military, the Marines for example, communication lines are completely severed from friends and family during boot camp. There is no Internet, no phone, no distractions. The only thing you really get is handwritten letters once a week during your only "me time” for four hours on Sunday morning once a week. Does it seem cruel? Well, I had just been married one week before boot camp, so I think I am best to answer this. There are no distractions. All the aspects I told you about are never interrupted by distractions from the outside world. It helps to engross new recruits in the mentality that they are being absorbed into, but for a few months, it completely shuts them out from their friends, families, and the outside world. For a few months, the Marine Corps is your entire world.”

Now here we see something that at first glance is the antithesis of what we think the Progressives promote, but in point of fact they use isolation as a powerful tool, and the isolation is something that has craftily been imposed. While everyone understands the "safe spaces” concept is essentially a tool to isolate the individual, so much more of modern liberalism is intended to have the same affect. Speech codes are another tool to accomplish this. In essence, the person must remain silent, trapped in his own skull, in order to avoid total ostracization, and perhaps financial or academic penalty. It is buttressed by the near total control the Left has over the news media, which made it impossible for conservatives to communicate in any larger sense - until technology overturned the liberal monopoly. But even so, we are subject to censorship on a large scale by liberals, be it moderation on message boards or Facebook’s censorship both of private posts and of the news they disseminate.

They want the public to feel isolated, to feel they are the oddballs in a sea of deviancy. That is why it is important to push transgenderism, for example. They want the public to feel alone, to think that they are the ones swimming against the current. This is all part of the depersonalization campaign.

Let us move on:

” You will also see what is known as the "Omnidirectional AXX Chewing” in which multiple D.I. will be screaming at you in unison as you attempt to make sense of the universe around you.”

There you have it; the point is to disorient you, to make the universe incomprehensible so that you will surrender your personality and love Big Brother. The military doesn’t do that without purpose, and neither does the Left. There is method in their madness. Why have they attacked people who are just trying to live their lives, bakers and pizza makers who don’t want to celebrate gay marriage, for instance? Because it disorients the general public, puts them on unsure footing. They want to have multiple voices screaming in unison as a way to break the old way of thinking, and to do that they have to sacrifice a few perhaps decent but unenlightened people.

Our Marine friend concludes:

"Boot camp, and particularly that of the Marines, is made to psychologically change a child into someone capable of performing under combat situations.

[...]

The yelling, the sleep deprivation, and being cut off from friends and family are part of the process of becoming a warrior. It is also part of becoming a cult.

Think about this; each of these techniques are used to break the personality, the individuality, the will, of the recruit. It is done for good reasons with the military, but isn’t this exactly what the liberals and the media do to society? They are boot-camping us, trying to rebuild us as passive liberal stooges.

And this has largely been successful over the decades. Americans have changed profoundly from the self-reliant, moral, spiritual people we once were. We now more closely resemble the French, a People we always saw as libertine and degenerate. America is now libertine and degenerate, and that is because we have had a generational psy-op run on our country, largely by our own leaders.

Liberalism is a cult, but it is becoming the predominant religion in America and the world. The military has used many of their techniques with excellent results for a long, long time, and the Left is systematically training us, breaking our personalities and turning us into good collectivists. Common Core emphasizes this, for example, and things will only accelerate as the Progressives tighten their internationalist grip.

Much of this is intended simply to anger us and break our will to resist. We need to understand that fact. The whole transgendered bathroom nonsense is a classic example.

We are free men and free men are given a choice. The Left doesn’t want us free. There may still be time to stop them, if we understand what they are doing and turn the tables. But time is running out.

The Dehumanizing Mask

Timothy Birdnow

Yes, masking is about so very much more.

Dehumanizing and Demonizing Sceptics Who Don't Wear Face Masks

From the article:

"Mask wearing is not about stopping the transmission of a virus. It is, instead, about much more. Masking is about control and coercion, it is about psychological manipulation and conditioning, and it has a religious component, something that has been addressed by The New American already and that will be the subject of additional scrutiny in the future. But masks are also about identifying, classifying, and separating people: specifically those who are now controlled or willing to be controlled, and those independent and freedom-loving Americans hold fast to the Jeffersonian ideals of 1776 who cannot be controlled. For the latter, those now identified by the researchers cited by Newsweek as having the "Dark Triad” traits, it is about dehumanization and demonization.”

Proving once again that he's an idiot.

Dana Mathewson

New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo recently made a big stink about how, if a bar in his state wants to open and serve drinks, they must require customers to also purchase food. OK, Karl Marx; everything that isn't forbidden is now compulsory.

But it seems that Cuomo is now in the nutrition business. After announcing that it's not enough that the customer request a dish of peanuts or a bag of chips, it's not even enough to request one of New York's most iconic dishes: CHICKEN WINGS! Nope. You've got to order a sandwich.

Picture this, folks: you could (probably) go into a bar and order two slices of bread with a single leaf of lettuce between them, along with your beer, and be technically within the law. But you can't order that same beer and two dozen (or more) wings, accompanied by the traditional blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.

Think I'm kidding?

As Twitchy reported a week ago, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that New York bars and restaurants could sell alcohol, but only to people who also ordered food. Apparently the science was that people who drank alcohol only tended to loiter and not social distance as much or something.

Plenty suggested the idea of selling peanuts for a buck to take care of the food requirement, but Cuomo has made it somewhat clear what’s considered food and what isn’t. Apparently ordering chicken wings with your beer doesn’t count and bars will be closed down if they try to get away with it. You have to have at least a sandwich for it to count.

Remember, this all has to do with preventing the spread of COVID-19 while allowing businesses like bars to reopen. Eating a sandwich will keep you from getting the coronavirus, but chicken wings will not.

Go to the article here https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2020/07/23/science-gov-andrew-cuomo-says-chicken-wings-dont-count-as-food-in-meeting-coronavirus-rule-requirements/ for the whole thing. Really! There are a bunch of great tweets which will not reproduce on this site.

Reading this makes me want to order a whole bunch of wings from my favorite wing joint right now. I already have enough beer in the fridge.

The Purpose of the Mask

Timothy Birdnow

There is something sinister afoot about this insistence on people wearing face masks. I've discussed it here at The Aviary before and have made a number of points, but I wanted to see what psychologists are saying about it. This policy is clearly being driven by the Left for purposes of their own, and they got that idea from somewhere. So I did a little sleuthing.

Exhibit A is an article in a British psychology magazine called Mind. In it the argument is made:

  • Covering your mouth and nose might affect the air you breathe, which might make you feel anxious or panicky. This can then cause other symptoms as well, like feeling dizzy or sick, which you might associate with the mask.
  • You might feel trapped or claustrophobic.
  • Covering your face changes the way you look, which may cause negative feelings around your identity or body image.
  • Having certain materials touching your skin might feel very hard to cope with (sensory overload).
  • If you wear glasses, they might get steamed up so you can't see clearly. This might add to feelings of being overwhelmed.
  • Masks are a visual reminder of the virus, so seeing masks might make you feel on edge or unable to relax. It might seem like danger is everywhere.
  • Seeing people covering their faces might make you feel uneasy or scared of others. They might seem threatening, sinister, or dehumanised.
  • On the other hand, you might feel very anxious or upset around people who are not wearing masks in public. (Although many people are exempt from wearing them, and you won't always know their reasons.)
  • If you are exempt from wearing a mask, you still might feel very anxious about being judged, shamed or stigmatised in public. Or about the possibility of being asked to pay a fine. This may feel especially hard to cope with if the reason you can't wear a mask is also to do with your mental health.
So it is clear that masking produces a plethora of negative emotions which separate us as a people. Was this unforseen? Or does it serve a useful purpose to the Left?

Red Masking Tape

This from Alvin Schrock:

A friend posted this.

I was asked why I don’t take Covid and the mask situation seriously. I said that I do take the virus seriously. I believe there is a virus and that it is dangerous. But the people who are disseminating the information to us have a long, long track record of lying to and showing dismissive contempt for American citizens as a whole.
At one point, the disease was supposed to have a 5% death rate. The death rate has now been reduced to less than 1/3 of 1% worldwide. The truth is I’m not opposed to masks at all. Much like carrying a firearm, I don’t and won’t shame anyone for deciding to wear one or not. Sort of a "my body, my choice” situation I suppose.
However, when considering the trustworthiness of information coming from our politicians, I’ve been unable to reconcile the fact that 200,000 people protesting in the streets is met with little to no concern, but a bar, restaurant or hair salon with 10 people in it could be disastrous. The idea that a Trump rally of 18,000 people is a significant risk but a group of 20,000 students tearing down statues isn’t, leaves me perplexed.
Further, how could you possibly take anyone seriously who mandates that free citizens stay at home and wear masks in public but also calls for the acceptance of millions of immigrants entering our society illegally with no qualms about the more deadly illnesses they are bringing with them.
The truth is that our political "leaders,” just like with guns, drugs, our national debt or sex trafficking, have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about and no plan outside of what’s handed to them 6 seconds before they reach the podium.
So I choose to protect myself as I see fit. If anyone doesn’t like it, I’m ok with that. Just think of it as a "protest.” That seems to be ok with many people! Ok? Cool.

A word from Tim:

Back in May Fauci admitted masks weren't about stopping anything, but were a "talisman" (his words) which gave people a sense of being protected. I would argue they are a religious symbol, something designed to make the wearer feel a part of this. And of course a symbol of obedience to authority, much like getting a horse to accept a bit in the mouth. As defense mechanisms they do little; viruses are too small for cloth to stop their free movement, and most viruses are picked up through the eyes anyway. They are not form-fitting either. Now, if someone wants to wear then that is fine; their choice. But to force us to wear them (Indiana just made it a crime punishable by six months in prison for not wearing one) is desptism. And they will have a profound psychological impact on America as this continues, changing our national character, making us more suspicious and less friendly. Oh, and they offer a FINE opportunity for terrorists and thugs to hide from the authorities; nobody could walk around in a mask a year ago but now everyone has them on. We can't use facial recognition software anymore, for instance. Oh, and this pandemic will not end until we reach herd immunity, and that won't happen until at least sixty percent of the population catches Wuhan and gets over it. This was never about stopping the spread of the disease, but was supposed to be to "flatten the curve" so as to give medical people breathing room. They have quietly morphed their approach, now making people feel that this is going to somehow stop the spread of the disease. It won't and can't. I am astonished that so many Ameridcans have sheepishly accepted our government forcing us into a muzzle like this, a Sharia-compliant face covering. This isn't the America I knew.

Christians Not Welcome - by the Marines!

Warner Todd Huston

U.S. Marines Cancel Speaker Only Because He's a Christian

A word from Tim:

Disgraceful! They swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, which last time I checked had a provision about freedom of religion. Now, that doesn't automatically give someone a right to speak, but to cancel a speaker solely because they follow the religion followed by most Americans is, well, unamerican! How has it ever come to this?

Police State

Timothy Birdnow

We knew this was coming. They are utterly determined to force Americans into those masks, despite the fact that there is no evidence they do a bit of good. It's about control and the psychological effects. They want us to accept the bit in our mouths with that, I fear. You don't saddle up a wild horse first, you make him accept the bit.

Methane Madness

Richard Cronin:

Uuummm. Methane is produced both by Fischer-Tropsch reactions and Sabatier reactions within the Earth. As the Earth heats from within we produce more CO2, more methane, and more longer chain hydrocarbons (oil).

First Methane Leak Found on Antarctic Sea Floor Confirms Researchers' Fears

Tim adds:

More hysteria from the Gang Green. As if methane hasn't been leaking before now! Oh, and how do they square this with the fact that the oceans around Antarctica haven't really warmed as far as anyone can tell, that Antarctic ice is up, and that the whole freaking planet hasn't warmed? Does a fraction of a degree mean melting and methane release? What a ridiculous article.

Richard adds:

Your mention of Antarctic ice growing (thickening the sheets and buckling up into ridge systems) brings up another point.

There is snowfall around the perimeter of Antarctica but very little falls in the arid interior. Rather, the ice sheets form by steam vented from below. Antarctica is very seismically active. There are even mountain passes cut thru the Transantarctic mountain range and researchers describe "rivers of ice” flowing from East Antarctica into West Antarctica, where the greatest amount of calving occurs.

I reply:

Indeed Richard Cronin. I long argued that the calving in WAIS was a result of pressure from ice from EAIS, much like a fingernail breaks off after it grows too long (since WAIS floats on the sea.) As you say, there is virtually no precipitation in Antarctica thanks to the bitter cold, so ice builds up through geothermal processes. Oh, and that "warmest day ever" off the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula was clearly a result of undersea volcanism offshore. I read a paper about that recently, although I doubt I could find it again unless I had to (Google loves to hide that kind of thing.)

Medical Follies

Timothy Birdnow

I went in for a checkup to my doctor yesterday.

It was an interesting experience. First, to get into the building I had to have my temperature taken. They handed me a slip of paper with the number 927 on it and told me it was my TEMPERATURE and I was to give it to the people upstairs. ??? Criminy; I never knew I had a fever! I must have been asleep on Venus to be that warm! Even if that were in Kelvin it would be over a eleven hundred  degrees F.

There were some new people working there, and they weren't overly friendly. Not unfriendly, mind you, but I tried joking around with them in my usual fashion and stone face!  My usual joke about stripping naked before being weighed fell as flat as, well, the look the nurse gave me made me worry she was thinking about calling for security. I guess she's been overly busy.

Anyway, I went into the little room and immediately something set off my allergies. I think it was the nurse, but I can't be certain. At any rate, I fell into a horrible fit of coughing, really hacking away. What made it worse was the mask I was wearing; I couldn't get the offending bodily fluid out, and I couldn't get enough air. Naturally the nurse was looking at me as if I had sprouted a second head; a guy coughing up a lung is no small worry these days. She did her job and made a hasty retreat, after which my coughing subsided. I must have scared her half to death.

At any rate, my doctor was his usual affable self. I really like that guy; he is always up for joking around. Fortunately I stopped coughing or they would have schlepped me over to St. Marys hospital (my doctor's office is in the medical building there.)

Anyway, I was sure glad to toss that mask when I got to the car! I always feel like a Mexican bandito robbing a train...
