I'll take a Spanberger with Cries!

Timothy Birdnow

A freshman Democratic House member gets an earful at a townhall meeting.

From El Zoro (Fox):

Rep. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., was confronted with shouts about the Democrat-led Trumpimpeachment effortduring a fiery town hall meeting withconstituentsover the weekend.

Spanberger was one of the seven freshman Democrats who penned a September op-edin the Washington Post calling for President Trump'simpeachment. But footage from Sunday's town hall showed people yelling that the president was innocent and that the impeachment push was "crap."

"It's a lie. It's all a lie," one man shouted.

"You all have been trying to impeach this man since he got elected," a man could be heard saying. Another man also yelled that Trump "hasn't done anything wrong."

"Let our votes count," one man implored the congresswoman. "Don't take them away."

Which is exactly what the Democrats are trying to do, steal our votes. This is larceny writ large.

Spanberger won David Brat's seat. Brat, you may remember, was the conservative who knocked off long time Republican leach Eric Cantor (ain't THAT right, he cant or anything!) This is clearly a district that does not tolerate disobedient representatives.

How many seats will the Democrats lose in the next election because of this?  Probably quite a few. Of course, they'll steal a bunch elsewhere. I doubt a single Republican will win an election in California, what with vote harvesting allowing the Democrats to stuff ballot boxes. (Remember how many elections the GOP had won on election night only to lose in the days that followed as votes magically appeared?)

Still, what will this woman do? If she votes against impeachment she is finished in the Donkey party. If she votes for it she is finished in her district. Tough spot.

Her best option may be to run as an independent. Of course, she won't be able to raise much money.

Co-Dependent Republicans

This from Warner Todd Houston:

I just saw someone say that many establishment Illinois Republicans are anti-Trump. That is only half right.

The Illinois GOP is not merely "anti-Trump." It is anti-Conservati ve. The Illinois GOP has always been solidly anti-Reagan, too. Illinois is the ONLY U.S. state whose GOP was never transformed by Reagan. Oh sure, in the last 20 years, all the Ill. GOP mopes run around pretending that they love Reagan. But when Reagan was in office no one in this state advocated his ways or adopted his tones. And since his passing they only mouth their love for him and otherwise lead like Democrats.

I am thoroughly disgusted by the utterly useless, principle-free GOP in Illinois. I will never vote for, work for, or advocate for them again. Never. Ever.

Despite that Illinois is so bad that the GOP should be looking at a track to growth, there is NO hope for "growth" because they don't want to grow. They want to be the junior partner of the rapacious, un-American Ill. Democrats. That is their specific goal. They are satisfied to take the scraps left to them by Democrats. The Ill. GOP does not want an influx of conservative voters. They want to stay small and in control of their caucus. They don't want unruly conservatives and Trump voters enter to take possible power from them.

The Ill. GOP died decades ago and just havn't finished paying for the headstone to be carved. I can name about five of them that are worth their salt and they are pariahs in the party because they won't go along to get along.

Poser Comatose

Timothy Birdnow

Recently I discussed a suggestion to use the National Guard to enforce Virginia's new gun grab law. As I pointed out, Trump could bring in the military to stop the weekend warriors who would be sent to enforce the clearly unconstitutional state law.

Well, a fellow stated that he didn't buy it because of Posse Comitatus. I am unsure whether he thinks the PCA applies to the states or not (it does not) but he clearly misses the mark on how it applies to the Federal government.

I left the following reply:

Posse Comitatus applies to the national army, but clearly the state government can call up the National Guard in the event of insurrection - which is what the liberals in VA will call this. Of course, the President can likewise call what Viriginia is doing an act of insurrection. I would direct your attention to this

"The PCA directly applies only to the army and air force, without mentioning the navy, the Marine Corps, the Coast Guard, or the National Guard. The National Guard is subject to Article I, section 8 of the Constitution, "To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions." The National Guard is under state control until called into federal service, and is authorized to enforce the laws upon the request of a governor."

Which means a governor can use the National Guard to enforce such a law.

Trump's options would be to get Congress to allow him to use the military (unlikely) or to use the Marine Corpse, which is not under PCA except through regulation. And there is an exemption. Also from the article I cited

"Although the president has constitutional power to use the military to protect the nation in time of emergency and to repel invasions, in the Civil Disturbance Statutes Congress expressly authorized the president to use the armed forces under emergency circumstances. Where there is an insurrection in a state against its government, the president may, in addition to calling out the militia, "use such of the armed forces as he considers necessary to suppress the insurrection. Also, the president may use the armed forces to suppress a rebellion, insurrection, domestic violence, or unlawful conspiracy that obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or deprives the people of the United States from their constitutional rights, privileges, and immunities."

Clearly, using the National Guard to enforce gun control would be a "conspiracy that obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or deprives the people of the United States from their constitutional rights, privileges, and immunities". But of course the Democrats could probably stop him politically, and a lot of RINO Republicans would join in. I doubt Trump would take such action.

But to me it is clear Posse Comitatus is no real bar to either Virginia or the President. More so the President than VA. but then, Virginia is full of military installations and one wonders if Blackface Northram would dare send in armed forces when American soldiers are standing at the ready.

The PCA is not a Constitutional amendment, and it stands secondary to the Constitution.

Then there is U.S. Code 18 2384:

If two or more art:I:chapter:115:section:2384">persons in anyart:I:chapter:115:section:2384"> State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the art:I:chapter:115:section:2384">United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the art:I:chapter:115:section:2384">United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the art:I:chapter:115:section:2384">United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the art:I:chapter:115:section:2384">United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 808; July 24, 1956, ch. 678, § 1, 70 Stat. 623; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, § 330016(1)(N), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2148.)

An attempt to use the National Guard to subvert the Second Amendment would clearly constitute an attempt to subvert the execution of laws. As a result the President would be within his rights to take whatever steps were necessary to arrest the offending officials.

There is, of course, Article III, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution.

Remember, Federal troops were used to enforce court orders integrating schools in southern states against the will of the People of said states, and even when people like George Wallace suggested calling out the National Guard to stop the integration.

Then there is Executive Order 13528 signed by Barack Obama on January 11, 2010. This creates a ten member board to advise the President, and it can vote to authorize use of force inside of the United States. In particular, the National Guard can be placed under the authority of teh Northern Command of the U.S. military. So, the President can indeed take control of Virginia's National Guard via an Obama EO.

The President would be entirely justified in using the military to stop this. Of course he won't; he'll try to work through the courts as is proper. But Virginia would likely disobey a court order, knowing they will get away with it.

And if they do?  That could well be the beginning of the second American Revolution.

Or the first American Empire.

Free Market Environmentalism

This from Tim McNabb:

If you want solutions to ecological issues, this is how it is done, not by applauding ignorant children making petulant demands.

"Age 18, Boyan devised a concept which utilises the natural oceanic forces to passively catch and concentrate ocean plastic, through which the theoretical cleanup time could be reduced from millennia to mere years. In February 2013 he dropped out of his Aerospace Engineering study at TU Delft to start The Ocean Cleanup."

It's Not the Rural Sheriff or the Klansman

Timothy Birdnow

Clarence Thomas warns that it is not the redneck in a pickup but the erudite Liberal the black community must fear.

From Church Militant:

In Created Equal,Thomas recalls:

I felt as though in my life I had been looking at the wrong people as the people who would be problematic toward me. We were told that, "Oh, it's gonna be the bigot in the pickup truck; it's gonna be the Klansmen; it's gonna be the rural sheriff."But it turned out that through all of that, ultimately the biggest impediment was the modern-day liberal. They were the ones who would discount all those things because they have one issue or because they have the power to caricature you.

Thomas spoke about how he believes the progressive Left dishonestly yields its power and influence in society.

"Do I have, like, 'stupid' written on the back of my shirt?"he rhetorically asked. "I mean, come on. We know what this is all about. People should just tell the truth: 'This is the wrong black guy; he has to be destroyed.'Just say it. Then now we're at least honest with each other."

"The idea was to get rid of me,"he said. "And then after I was there, it was to undermine me."

And indeed Justice Thomas has been abused throughout his tenure of office.

Thomas wasn't the first SCOTUS appointee to be so attacked; the name Bork is now a verb, and the Democrats utterly disgraced themselves in going after that good man. But Thomas showed that they were willing to destroy a minority in their quest for power, something that nobody thought they would do.

And while they lost this one, they just barely lost it. This was the template for what they have used against two of Trump's appointees, and especially Brett Kavanaugh, who is a judicial moderate and should have been to their liking. Now they are using the tactics on people outside of the courts.

White, black, hispanic, asian, we all have a common enemy. White racists or black separatists need to understand that fact, that we are more allike than we realize and that the true enemy is the collectivist and the redistributionist.

Sadly, we are all destined to hang separately because we have too many who are unwilling to hang next to "one of them".

Hat tip: William Johnson.

Will the Real Crook Please Stand UP

Timothy Birdnow

William Johnson sends us this reminder about what started the current impeachment scandal. Joe Biden is on tape bragging about getting teh prosecutor who was investigating his son fired by threatening to withhold Ukraine's promised security funding. Watch this Youtube vid and repost it as much as possible; the public probably has never heard this.

William also sends us a this Youtube video where we learn from an Ukrainian MP that Biden was paid Nine Hundred Thousand bucks for lobbying by Burisma Holdings.

But it's TRUMP who's guilty of corruption and criminality here!

British election results – What Boris Johnson, Brexit teach Democrats (and Trump)

Dana Mathewson

Tim has an excellent post today about the Tories' big win in Britain. I wanted to add my tuppence and found a great opinion piece in Fox Business. It points out a number of parallels between Boris Johnson and our President Trump.

Excitement, relief and finally finality… instant thoughts as my phone blows up with alerts on the news that not only has Boris Johnson and his Conservative party won the election, but they have finally won enough of a majority to affirmatively extricate the U.K. from the European Union.

What began with the people’s Brexit referendum in June 2016 that turned into a three-and-a-half-year quagmire of uncertainty, political wrangling, votes of no confidence, and multiple new elections has finally ended the right way – at the ballot box with the people’s choice.

Simple yet mighty, Johnson’s slogan of "Get Brexit Done” is eerily reminiscent of Trump’s "Make America Great Again” with uncannily similar historic results.

Blue states that Trump turned red – Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin (and 1 electoral vote in Maine) and blue-collar workers long assumed to be a reliable Democrat voting block both resonated with Trump’s message of putting American jobs first, putting America’s economic and national security interests first, getting America’s fiscal house in order before we further in debt ourselves through expansive global nation-building and funding, and taking care of our own, our veterans and our poor, before we extend economic respite for the infinite financial needs of the rest of the world.

The UK’s election Thursday was no less historic with Labour suffering their worse defeat in over 80 years since 1935. The voters were clear– they put the United Kingdom before the European Union, the UK’s sovereignty before accepting direction from Brussels, and the people of the U.K. before the needs of a mass influx of immigrants from poorer Eastern Europe.

Likewise, blue-collar workers who were loyal to the Labour Party for decades switched their affiliation in this election. Their votes moved districts to elect a never-before-elected Conservative Party MP (Member of Parliament).

[...]

Why do people put themselves and their families first? If a mom in Estonia could make it west and provide a better life for her children, wouldn’t she go? (Of course -- she should!) But doesn’t that mean there are fewer opportunities for those already there since economic opportunity is not boundless anywhere?

If a U.S. family lost their job due to the outsourcing of jobs to China, wouldn’t they take reactive steps to correct their loss as much as possible (of course!) So, while the Chinese goods are cheaper, there is a real cost and it wasn’t free.

And so, we act in our own self-interests because resources are scarce, and we innately know that there simply isn’t enough to go around for everyone on planet Earth. Thus, we are automatically motivated to do what is in our families’ best interests’, even to the exclusion of others when necessary.

This is simply the economic rationalization of limited resources among unlimited infinite needs – an invisible force that moves us all towards self-preservation.

[...]

America is quite behind the EU on the lurch towards socialism, collectivism, Marxism but many want to march us there in a hurry under the same headline of free stuff for all…

Perhaps we should look at our British cousin for the lessons they have so painfully learned.

This excellent article is here: https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/british-election-results-boris-johnson-brexit-democrats-trump-rebecca-walser

As I pointed out in a comment to Tim's post, the Labour Party took such a shellacking that the loathsome anti-Semite Jeremy Corbin indicated that he was stepping down from his post as party leader. Let us greatly hope he follows through on that and, in fact, retires forever from British politics. And, since the author of the above article draws a number of parallels to our situation, let's hope that in the future a number of American Leftists decide it's also time for them to retire forever.

No One Actually Believes the Global Warming Hype

Dana Mathewson

I've been saying much the same for years -- if the Algore believed this sincerely, he'd ditch that home of his, that dispenses as much CO2 as a small village, and live in something efficient. It's not like he has a large family to raise.

Here's a great article by Power Line's John Hinderaker, who is very knowledgeable on the subject.

In polite society, we are required to pretend that the Earth faces an existential crisis because of increasing levels of atmospheric CO2; that global warming will destroy the planet, that the oceans will rise and storms will batter the sea coasts; that fossil fuels are the devil’s spawn, and in a short time–by 2050, say–all civilized societies will have banned their use, and we will be living in a solar- and wind-powered Nirvana.

But does anyone over the age of 16 actually believe this nonsense? I doubt it. A case in point is Saudi Arabia’s sale of five percent of Aramco, the world’s largest oil company. The London Times reports:

Saudi Aramco has become the world’s first $2 trillion company as shares in the oil giant rose again on its second day of trading.

$2 trillion is the implied market value based on the revenue generated by selling five percent.

The valuation puts Aramco well ahead of the next biggest listed company, Apple, which became the world’s first $1 trillion company last year and is now worth about $1.2 trillion.

Saudi Aramco is the world’s biggest oil company and generated net income of $111 billion last year.

So the price to earnings ratio is around 18 to 1, which is about average in today’s booming stock market.

Analysts debate the $2 trillion valuation:

International analysts remained sceptical over its valuation. Bernstein Research, one of the few banks to publish research on Aramco, formally initiated coverage last night with an "underperform” rating, describing it as "too much, too soon”.

The analysts reiterated their belief that the company was worth only $1.36 trillion and "should trade at a discount rather than premium to international oil majors” given the corporate governance risks arising from the kingdom’s continued ownership of more than 98 per cent of the shares.

But the point is obvious: if investors seriously believed that the world is going to abandon fossil fuels, starting now and concluding circa 2050 (or whatever), they wouldn’t be interested in paying top dollar for Aramco shares. Or, perhaps, paying much of anything.

Aha! There's the rub! The rest of the article is here: https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/12/no-one-actually-believes-the-global-warming-hype.php The point is, it doesn't matter what celebrity entertainers, or ill-mannered children, believe; it's what the people whose money controls things believe. These people are experts in risk management.

Why Crime is Out of Control in St. Louis

Timothy Birdnow

Fox 2 News reporter Elliott Davis explains why the City of St. Louis has such a problem with crime.

He posted this on Facebook:

Look at St Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office and at an event this week if you want to know one of the big reasons the crime is so bad in this city.

We’ve now passed the number murders committed last year in the city of St Louis. Last year the city had 186 killings, this year we’ve had 187 people murdered.
14 of them are children and teenagers and that’s triple the number from last year.
Now this week in a stunning move Justin Matthews who had pled guilty to second degree murder in the shooting death of retired CiTy Pole Officer Ralph Harper, a 33 year veteran of the department got a big change in the punishment.
He was scheduled to do 20 years in Prison for Second Degree Murder but now that’s change.
The 16 year old is getting a deal by the Circuit Attorney’s Office that’s lets him out of doing the 20 years in prison and instead puts him on juvenile detention. He can get out of jail at 21 if he behaves himself. He and his family are no doubt happy.
it’s just the opposite for the heartbroken family of Former Officer Harper who are not getting justice in this deal. The person partly responsible for the Ruthless murder of their loved one in a robbery gets to walk free with 5 years in jail in a juvenile facility instead of prison.
What kind of signal does this send to other hard core criminals? It tells them they can get away with anything even killing
Once again taking kindness for weakness.

You’ll recall the person who had been charged.with 1st degree murder of a man at Ball Park VillageHe was allowed by Kim Gardner Office. to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He’ll do 4
Years in prison for murder.
According to the Post Dispatch victim Ralph Harpers brother
Said over and over as he left the courtroom "Unbelievable”
Now the second teenager who took part In the Harper murder wants to change his guilty so he can get in on this deal.
Once more a grand day for killers
A bad day for you.
Police can arrest suspects in every case they have, but with sentences, like this, what’s the point.
Not much police can do without a lot of help that their just not getting.

I added this comment:

Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner should have been impeached when she pulled all of those dirty tricks on Eric Greitens. She violated the law multiple times with that witch hunt. Whether you loved or hated Greitens the fact remains Gardner should have been removed from office and likely prosecuted for her behavior in that case.

Union Sues Disney for "Living Wage"

Timothy Birdnow

Boo Hoo Disney! These are the guys who put Americans out on the streets to live in their cars so they could hire cheap foreign labor. Couldn't happen to bigger jerks.

Labor Union Sues Disneyland for Failing to Pay Living Wage: Employees Living ‘In Their Cars’

Where was the labor union then?

From the article:

The union insiststhat Disney is violating Anaheim’s Measure L, a 2018 ordinance which mandates that hospitality businesses pay workers at least a $15 per hour minimum wage, according to the L.A. Times.

The lawsuit alleges that Disney is taking a subsidy for the construction of a six-story parking garage for the resort. Some of the construction bonds are paid in part by bed taxes from Anaheim’s hotels. Once the bonds are paid off, the city is set to fully transfer the garage to the resort.

The union activists, though, say the deal amounts to a subsidy benefiting the resort.

Both the resort and the city disagree.

That's what happens when you dance with a crocodile. Disney has been begging for it for years.

Retired NFL Players Defraud Insurance Company

Timothy Birdnow

A gang of retired NFL players have been with defrauding their health insurance companies.

What gets me is both of the ringleaders - Cornerback John Eubanks and Linebacker Robert McCune, played for the Washington D.C. Redskins. I guess they saw how it is done in Washington and figured they were entitled to their share of booty.

Other retirees involved include Clinton Portis, Carlos Rogers, Ceandris Brown, Tamarick Vanover, James Butler, Frederick Bennett, Correll Buckhalter, and Etric Pruitt, Joe Horn and Reche Caldwell .

Didn't these guys make enough during their playing days?

This shows what an entitlement mentality exists in the NFL, and how it's all about winning at any cost.

Boris Johnson and Party Win Big

Timothy Birdnow

Boris Johnson and the Brexiteers win big in the British Parliamentarian elections.

From Gateway Pundit:

His Conservative Party took 50 per cent of the electoral vote gaining 51 seats in parliamentary elections, today. This is a sizeable majority of 86, the largest Conservative victory since Margaret Thatcher.

The exit polls show:
Conservative 368
Labour 191
Scottish Nationalist 55
Liberal Democrat 13
Others 23

All this means Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Conservatives can now enact the long-awaited Exit.

Boris, like the English St. George, has slain the dragon.

Indeed. I wonder how the EUnuchs will try to stop Brexit now?

Make no mistake; they will try. They have been desperately attempting to thwart the Will of the People for several years now, delaying, arguing, and foot dragging. Now they no longer have any claims to a "mistake" by the People.

It's going to get very, very ugly in London soon. Watch for Johnson getting Trumped in weeks to come. Somebody is going to accuse him of something nasty, and it will grind Brexit to a halt. It's stopped Trump from building a wall and it has paralyzed Benjamin Netenyahu in Israel. That is the Left's go-to tactic these days.

Gun Grabbers Suggest Using National Guard to Force Gun Sanctuary Counties to Obey

Timothy Birdnow

Imagine if Trump tried to enforce immigration laws in "sanctuary cities" with the military! Isn't it amazing how hypocritical the Left can be.

VA Democrats: Let National Guard Force Counties to Honor Gun Control

You realize this would be the first shot in America's second civil war.

From the article:

The Washington Examiner reports that Rep. McEachin suggested using the National Guard to force compliance.

He said, "I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law. That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has.”

They won't even try to use the State Police first? These liberals who have taken over Virginia are jackbooted fascist thugs. But we knew that.

Donald Trump ought to send in the military to protect these counties if Blackface Northam tries to do this. Let's see VA's weekend warriors square off against the U.S. military.

Why Swedish Meatball is Fair Game

Tim McNabb makes the following observation:

First, I do not care for how President Trump feels compelled to swing at every pitch. It is silly and frustrating.

That said, complaining that Barron Trump was mocked by a law professor during impeachment hearings is morally different than mocking Greta Thunberg, though frankly I wish kids would be kept out of these debates altogether.

Barron is not part of the debate - he is just a kid being himself, and was drug involuntarily into the discussion against his parents wishes.

By contrast, Greta is, with the cooperation of her parents, making quite the name for herself and does not appear to be drug onto the stage involuntarily.

There is a difference. A serious difference. The morally serious can see it.

I replied:

Tim, Donald Trump Swings at every pitch because nobody else will. You may disagree with his tactic, but if he doesn't do that the lie or attack stands. If more Republicans would come to each-other's aid we could make real headway. Trump is showing what it takes to fight the media. You can't let them make false accusations and not strike back. It's part of why Trump won in the first place. That said,, it would probably have been better to not dignify this dingbat child. Of course, had Trump not responded he would have been validating her criticism. I wish someone else on our side would have taken her to task, though.

You know, when Bill Clinton ran for President a number of people made fun of little Chelsea, who was definitely a teenage mess, all acne and disproportionat
e. I thought that was a terrible thing to do at the time, despite my hatred of the Clintons. Bill asked everyone to leave the girl alone and our side did, realizing it wasn't her fault and she was not trying to involve herself in any of the debates. And to the Clintons' credit they didn't use her as a campaign prop.

But the same courtesy isn't applied to Baron Trump (and it wasn't applied to George W. Bush's daughters, either.) The double standard is obvious.

That said, Scoldilocks has not only inserted herself into an adult debate (and one she clearly doesn't understand) but she is also arrogant and aggressive about it. SHE is the one demanding we respond.

And as her arguments have no merit she deserves to be sneered at and to be the butt of jokes. After all, she is accusing US of terrible things and thinks she knows better. She is the fool who opened her mouth to remove all doubt about her foolishness. And the Progressives are actively promoting her as some sort of hero because they have failed to convince the American People that Global Warming is a "planetary emergency". So they trot out a mentally unstable, shrill little teen.

Not that they haven't done that before. Remember David Hogg? They trotted that course and arrogant creep out to stump for gun control. For that matter, remember the many young people trotted out to support a nuclear freeze? I remember a young Laura Dern giving an hysterical interview in which she cried about having no future because we were all going to die from The Bomb.

We didn't make her that - she volunteered, nay, begged us to do so.

Clinton Now Says Impeachment Appropriate

Timothy Birdnow

In what can only be described as surreal, William Jefferson Blythe Clinton praises the House of Representatives for trying to impeach Donald Trump!

Courtesy of Fox News:

Former President Bill Clinton, the only living American president to have gone through the same process, weighed in Tuesday on House Democrats' bid to impeach President Trump--saying lawmakers are doing "what they believe is right.”

"They’re doing their job as they see it and we should wait to see it unfold,” Clinton told Fox News while touring a Clinton Foundation program in New York City. "And the rest of us should go about our jobs and do them as we see it.”

Funny; Mr. Clinton was never so reasonable when he was the impeachee. Anyone remember the attacks on Ken Starr? Yes, it was often Carville or Stephanopoulis, but it was coming from Clinton.

Here are a few other quotes to chew on:

Joe Biden

Then (as a senator from Delaware): "The American people don’t think that they have made a mistake by electing Bill Clinton and we in Congress had better be very careful before we upset their decision and make darn sure that we are able to convince them, if we decide to upset their decision, that our decision to impeach him was based upon principle and not politics.”

– Nov. 18, 1998, speech at National Press Club

Now: "It is a tragedy for this country that our president put personal politics above his sacred oath. He has put his own political interests over our national security interest, which is bolstering Ukraine against Russian pressure. It is an affront to every single American and the founding values of our country. This is not a Republican issue or a Democratic issue. It is a national security issue. It is a test of our democratic values.”

Dianne Feinstein

Then: "Outside the Beltway, people want this thing to be over. I think they’ve had enough of it. This is one of my concerns about the continued release of materials even before the inquiry itself has begun. And I think the American people have other things they want their government to take care of other than dwell on this.”

– Sept. 26, 1998, news conference

Now: "I find the whistleblower complaint to be highly credible. It suggests that the president used his office to demand political favors from a foreign country and that White House personnel knew this was wrong and tried to cover it up by burying details of the call with Ukrainian President Zelensky.”

– Sept. 21 statement

Chuck U. Schumer

Then (as a House member): "It is time we move forward, and not have the Congress and the American people endure a specter of what could be a yearlong focus on a tawdry but not impeachable affair.”

– Oct. 6, 1998, news report

Now: "This document” — a White House summation of the phone conversation — "demonstrates that President Trump made it abundantly and redundantly clear to the president of the Ukraine that he wanted him to investigate his political opponent and further that he wanted him to work with Atty. Gen. [William] Barr to make it happen. This document absolutely validates the wisdom of ... [the] decision to open up a formal impeachment inquiry.”

– Sept. 25, news report

And a number of Democrats compared the impeachment of Bill Clinton to a lynching, including Joe Biden and Jerry Nadler.

Now, Biden is trying to walk it back:

"This wasn’t the right word to use and I’m sorry about that," Biden wrote."Trump on the other hand chose his words deliberately today in his use of the word lynching and continues to stoke racial divides in this country daily."

My, how they have changed their tunes.

None Dare Call it Whitewash

Bill H.

I have been waiting to see where and if the term "mistakes" would be challenged. A few individuals, here and at Powerline, have done so, but not one member of government or the media has done so.

Affadavits for warrants are made under oath, so that makes those lies perjury, which is a felony crime punishable by a prison term, and Horowitz covers them up by calling them "mistakes." They were, of course, nothing of the sort, but were lies told for the specific purpose of assuring that the warrants would be issued.

That means two things. One, that the Horowitz report is a coverup, a whitewash, from start to finish. Two, that there is not one public person in government or in the media, not one single person, who is not totally corrupt.

Horowitz Employs Comey Trick

Timothy Birdnow

The Horowitz report chronicles 33 lies and mistakes by the FBI as well as no less than 9 baldfaced lies used to justify spying on Trump.

From the article:

To put that in perspective, former Trump aides Mike Flynn and George Papadopoulos were convicted of making single false statements to the bureau. One went to jail already, and the other awaits sentencing.

The FBI made nine false statements to the court.

And the appendix shows the FBI made another nine factual assertions that did not match the supporting evidence in the file. In another words, the bureau was misleading on nine other occasions.

But Horowitz can't find any bias in this!

This thing is strikingly similar to the report by James Comey - then head of the FBI - when he investigated Hillary Clinton. Comey delineated all manner of shady actions by Mrs. Clinton, really working her over, but then concluded she was not prosecutable. Plenty to see here, but nothing we can get her on!

The whole point was to maintain his own credibility while at the same time getting Hillary's neck out of the noose. Horowitz seems to have tried the same trick.

Frankly, the man is either an utter fool or a liar. In either case he does not belong in his position.

Mistakes can be made, but lies require bias. Horowitz isn't that stupid.

Clinton Judge Bans Trump from Building Wall

In non-impeachment news, a Clinton-appointed federal judge has issued a permanent restraining order against the Administration preventing Trump from using national defense money to build a border wall.

From the article:

Judge David Briones of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas has ruled the Trump administration cannot use military construction funds to build the wall, CNN reported.

The funds at stake in this latest legal setback include the $3.6 billion set out by Defense Secretary Mark Esper in September. The funds were set out to fund 11 border wall projects, totaling 175 miles of construction.

The $3.6 billion funding allotment is one of two funding allotments the Trump administration chose to divert to wall construction in a February national emergency declaration. Another $2.5 billion in Pentagon funds was also pulled in for wall funding and despite past legal challenges, the Supreme Court in July ruled those funds could be used for the prescribed wall construction.

The Trump administration had also diverted $600 million from an asset forfeiture program in the Treasury Department. Congress had also approved $1.375 billion in wall funding prior to Trump’s February declaration.

El Paso County, Texas and Border Network for Human Rights have argued Trump overstepped his authority to declare a national emergency at the border in this latest legal challenge to the wall funding efforts. The two parties bringing the complaint forward have also argued Trump’s declaration doesn’t meet the National Emergencies Act’s guidelines for what constitutes an "emergency.”

First, how does a civil rights organization have standing to bring this suite?

Second, national defense is clearly entirely within the purview of the Executive Branch. So is border security. The judiciary has no jurisdiction. That was why the Democrats were so upset about this; they knew full well that this is well within the authority of the President.

This ruling may be overturned on appeal, but the fact that this lone judge has the cajones to stop the President from fulfilling his lawful duties.

We no longer have a judiciary; we have a pretender lawmaking body.
