Did he, or did he not, say it?

Dana Mathewson

We've heard that Sen. Dick Durbin insists that the president used the term "s**t-hole" to describe certain countries. We've also read that Sen Durbin has often been, er, rather creative in his descriptions of what goes on it White House meetings.

False EBS Alarms then and now

Timothy Birdnow

In 1991 a disc jockey at the hard rock station KSHE in St. Louis caused a panic by fraudulently deploying the Emergency Broadcast System nuclear attack alert. John Ulett, who was also the public address announcer for the St. Louis Cardinals, was angry at callers who kept suggesting we use nuclear weapons on Iraq (this was just prior to the first Gulf War) and so set off a tone similar to that used by the EBS and followed that with a false claim of an attack. Ulett lost his job with the Cardinals but was never fired from the hippie station KSHE, despite the fact that he not only violated broadcast rules. But he apparently never paid a legal price. more...

Trump's Broken Promises

Timothy Birdnow

President Donald Trump, despite his promises to stop any amnesty for illegal aliens, has chosen not to appeal a San Francisco pseudo-judge's ruling that the President may not end the Obama executive order forcing America to keep these illegal aliens brough here when young. According to the Reuters article:

" U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday blasted the federal court system as "broken and unfair” after a judge blocked his administration’s move to end a program protecting young immigrants brought to the United States illegally by their parents.

A U.S. District Court judge in San Francisco ruled late on Tuesday that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, which Trump has said he will end, should remain in effect until legal challenges brought in multiple courts are resolved. "

End excerpt.

As of yet no appeal has been made by the Trump Administration, something that is necessary if he wants to end the program. It is also necessary to have the threat of ending the program to leverage the Democrats in Congress. If Trump fails to appeal he will be handing the cards to Congressional Democrats. more...

Tranny Manning a Democrat Dream Senator

Dana Mathewson

I don't write 'em, folks, I just read 'em and pass 'em along. From Urgent Agenda:

FROM REUTERS: WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Chelsea Manning, the transgender U.S. Army soldier who served seven years in military prison for leaking classified data, is seeking the Democratic Party's nomination for the U.S. Senate seat from Maryland, according to Federal election filings seen on Saturday. Manning, who was granted clemency by former U.S. President Barack Obama, was released in May from a U.S. military prison in Kansas where she had been serving time for passing secrets to the WikiLeaks website in the biggest breach of classified data in the history of the United States. Democratic Senator Ben Cardin was elected in 2006 to that seat and is expected to run for re-election this year. He is the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Cardin was easily re-elected in 2012, beating his Republican challenger by 30 points in the heavily-Democratic state. Manning had been working as an intelligence analyst in Iraq. She was convicted by court-martial in 2013 of espionage and other offenses for furnishing more than 700,000 documents, videos and diplomatic cables to WikiLeaks, an international organization that publishes information from anonymous sources. What a total jerk. What an embarrassment to the Democratic Party that Manning is seeking its nomination. The party should make it impossible for this dubious character to run...based on her service record. more...

Leftist Toilet Mouths Condemn Trump as They Corrupt Nation

Selwyn Duke

President Trump denies having used a vulgar term last Thursday to describe dysfunctional Third World countries. Yet there’s no denying that the leftist media, believing he did, responded by repeatedly disgorging the term in a childish orgy of decadence. Of course, the media no doubt think they’re damaging Trump — but they’re actually damaging society.

Let’s be clear: Leftists certainly object to the substance of Trump’s comments, that we shouldn’t continually absorb poor, unskilled, often functionally illiterate and unassimilable people from Third World nations. But they also object to his alleged style, labeling as obscene the use of s-hole (toilet) to describe such places. So to show us how bad such language is, the Crude News Network (CNN), for example, used itat least 36 times on Thursday. It’s sort of like inveighing against animal abuse and then bludgeoning dozens of dogs to death on air to prove your point.

Let’s be clear about a few other matters:

False Missile Alarm in Hawaii

\Dana Mathewson

Must be something in the water there. Courtesy of  Urgent Agenda:

"I WOULD HOPE SO – FROM DAILY MAIL: A Civil Defense employee is set to be retrained after a shocking blunder on Saturday morning, when a mistaken alert warning of an inbound ballistic missile sent thousands fleeing for shelter. The false alarm was caused by a Hawaii Emergency Management Agency employee who 'pushed the wrong buttons' during an internal drill timed to coincide with a shift handover at 8.07am. The all-clear phone alert was not sent until 38 minutes later. Incredibly, officials said the employee who made the mistake wasn't aware of it until mobile phones in the command center began displaying the alert. 'This guy feels bad, right. He's not doing this on purpose - it was a mistake on his part and he feels terrible about it,' said EMA Administrator Vern Miyagi in a press conference Saturday afternoon. Retrained? Was he ever trained in the first place? I don't think we've ever had an incident like this. It requires a major investigation, probably at the Congressional level."

End excerpt.

History buffs among you may remember that our (admittedly primitive) air defense radar picked up the incoming planes from Admiral Nagumo's attacking forces at Pearl Harbor in 1941, but were dismissed by Sunday-morning analysts as "flights of seabirds" or other anomalies. It will never be known if we might have gotten at least some of our planes off the ground in time, if not to mount a counter-attack, then perhaps to save some of them. All of our planes were destroyed on the ground by Japanese bombers.

A NOTE FROM TIM:

And just how true is this "mistake"? I suspect we aren't getting the whole story. Maybe there actually was something out there, perhaps North Korean or Chinese. And maybe this guy was not just guilty of pushing the wrong button. I fear we will never know.

Climate Gulag Archipelago

Timothy Birdnow

University of Adelaide particle physicist Tony Thomas has unearthed a 2008 document fantasizing about exiling climate change deniers to gulags on the kerguelen Islands as well as South Georgia and the South Island of new Zealand.

Climate Futures – Responses to Climate Change in 2030”, From his article in Quadrant:

Take the deep-green Forum for the Future, which cheerfully anticipates penal colonies for sceptics:

fasces IVThe Kerguelen islands are horridly cold and windy specks near the Antarctic, populated by a few score of French scientists and several thousand sheep. But to a leading British green group, Forum for the Future, it has enormous potential as an internationally-run penal colony for global warming sceptics. more...

Blatant Blue State hypocrisy

Paul Driessen

This wide-ranging discussion of economic, energy, climate and free speech – as practiced by Blue State governments and activist allies – explains why America is lucky it’s governed by President Trump, a Republican Congress, and mostly Red State governors and legislators, instead of by certain potential alternatives. Those alternative entities are presiding over tax and regulatory regimes, mountains of debt, intransigent public sector unions, and anti-nuclear, anti-fossil fuel energy policies that are anything but business friendly. Worse, they show no signs of abating.

These politicians are desperate for scapegoats – anything to deflect attention away from their failures and incompetence.

So New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio has resurrected the Superstorm Sandy zombie. "I remember how desperate it was,” he railed at a recent press conference, where he announced he’s suing oil companies for changing Earth’s climate. "This tragedy was wrought by the actions of fossil fuel companies,” and the $20 billion he expects from the litigation will help NYC "build resilience against rising seas, more powerful storms and hotter temperatures.” Nice try, Mr. Mayor. But not many people are buying this nonsense anymore.

The Priest and the Marquis

Timothy Birdnow

A Catholic pastor in Mascoutah, Illinois, a far-flung suburb of St. Louis, has been arrested for possession of child pornography and meth. According to the Belleville News Democrat:

"The Mascoutah priest facing child-porn charges used an email address with the prefix "subpigboy4u” to exchange images via the internet, according to police documents.

The police documents, obtained Friday by the News-Democrat, say the Rev. Gerald Hechenberger paid to join porn-sharing sites, had leather chaps in his possession when arrested, and sent messages to others seeking to exchange pornography."

End excerpt.

So this priest liked to look at sexually explicit images of children, and he also apparently enoyed hooking up with men who beat and sodomized him. Also from the article: more...

Truth on DACA: We’ve Already Granted Amnesty to These Illegals

Selwyn Duke

In our through-the-looking-glass world, we so often view matters backwards without even realizing it. Take DACA (actually, leave it), where even many conservatives consider it a given that the individuals covered under it must somehow be granted amnesty. Overlooked is that they’ve already been granted amnesty.

Consider: Imagine you return from a trip to find someone has broken into your home, is squatting there and is eating your food and using your services. Might you not call the police? Might this invader not be charged with various crimes, such as breaking and entering, trespassing and theft? more...

How the Free Market Spanked Seattle’s Government After It Tried to Dictate How Its Citizens Lived

Dana Mathewson

Yes, folks, consumers are not necessarily sheeple. Even in blue state-blue city Seattle.https://www.redstate.com/brandon_morse/2018/01/10/free-market-spanked-seattles-government-tried-dictate-citizens-lived/

The next-to-last paragraph contains the kicker:
It will be interesting to see how businesses report their earnings with customers looking elsewhere for their Dr. Pepper, but with customers shopping elsewhere, it won’t be good. If they’re being driven to different stores in order to shop for drinks, there is little doubt that customers will do the rest of their shopping there as well. It won’t just be soda that’s affected.

Single Slayer

Wi Wirtanen

A vote against single payer

From the article:

"Today, breast cancer kills 39% fewer women than 25 years ago. Prostate cancer kills 52% fewer men, the American Cancer Society announced last week. You can thank new technologies that detect cancer early and defeat it for many of the lives saved. Americans diagnosed with most types of cancer have better odds of surviving it in the U.S. than anywhere else on the planet.

XBut watch out. These staggering achievements are at risk. A chorus of Democratic politicians is kicking off 2018 with renewed calls for universal, government-run health care. Leading the pack for single-payer are presidential contenders Senators Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

Single-payer advocates intend to make their scheme affordable by slashing the use of costly medical technology and new drugs. That's a death sentence for many cancer patients. It robs them of what they need to beat their illnesses."
