The Faux Conservatism of Chris Christie

So Chris Christie thinks DeSantis was wrong to make it illegal to cut genitalia off children. He seems to believe it is "conservative" to leave it up to "the parents".

Uh, that is LIBERTARIANISM and not Conservativism. Conservativismm does not believe in any form of radical individualism in that fashion. Libertarians believe government has no role - period. Conservatives, on the other hand, believe in "nature and nature's God" and that there are laws that supersede our wishes. And it is government's role to enforce those.

It's why Conservatives oppose abortion; the right to life supersedes the convenice of a woman who just couldn't say no.

So Christie doesn't know what the difference between Libertarianism and Conservativismis, and thinks the one is the other.

Also, he's a moral midget. He is advocating for the "rights" of parents to permanently mutilate their children. We have spent generations trying to stamp out female circumcision in Africa, yet here we are doing something very similar in the West and think nothing of it. So,if parents from Africa want to do female circumcision on their daughters will Mr. Christie support that?

Or foot binding for those of Chinese descent?

In fact we have always found such things done to children to be abhorrent. We do not let deaf parents have surgeries performed on their children tomake them deaf also, even though many wish they had deaf children so they could be "like them".

This is a form of mutilation and children do not have the moral and intellectual development to acquisce with full cognition.

I would add there is a growing body of evidence to suggest the problem of "transgndered" kids is really a problem of crazy mothers, who are essentially "transhausen by proxy" to gain status. There has been research done, going way back, that suggests most "trans"children are that way to please parents with emotional and mental disorders.

In a 1991 study researchers found that mothers of trans boys suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder. 53% of them did, compared to just 6% of the control group. That result has been repeated on a number of occasions, despite efforts to bury it.

So Christie thinks a mentally disturbed parent should be able to amputate a boy's penis, or a girl's breasts because "that's Conservative".

We have a whole plethora of laws restricting what kids can or cannot do, or can or cannot be done to them. Children may not drink alcohol, even with the parent's permission. (Ramaswamy made this point in the debate.) Does Mr. Christie believe it acceptable to give a nine year old a bottle of wine?

There is nothing Conservative about this viewpoint. Nothing.

And why does Christie think leaving it "up to the parents" will end there? We know how this goes; the Left will do what they did with abortion, hiding it from the parents when they deem the parent's wishes to be unacceptable. We are seeing this right now with school boards making policies to "transition" kids without the knowledge of the parents. Why does Christie think taking the law out of it is going to make this a mtter for the kid and the kids' parents?

Right now this is a wedge, and the Left will make this a parental rights argument, but soon they will reject that and say a child has an absolute right to a sex change, just as they did with abortion.

If Christie thinks this will stop with the crazy parents he is a fool. The Left NEVER stops until they take everything.

Of course it's not just Christie. Nikki Haley did indeed kill a bill in South Carolina that would have prevented men in drag from using girl's bathrooms. She said it wasn't a problem. But it's a tapestry, and if you pull out one threaed the whole thing unravels. Drag queens on the throne have turned into mad scientists with garden sheers looking to clip off your son's schnickle and we can thank the short-sightedness of Haley for that in North Carolina, at least. Certainly it happened in Virgia.

A society that refuses to protect the most vulnerable of us is a horribly degenerate and obscene one, and that is where modern America is right now. That is, I might add, in no small part a result of the thinking of people like Chris Christie and Nikki Haley.

If Mr. Chrisite thinks it is a parent's decision, what else does he believe a parent should decide? Does he support the rights of parents to refuse to vaccinate their kids? He didn't hold that position over Covid vaccinations, or mask mandates. He was just fine with governments telling parents what they had to inject in their kids' bodies or place upon them.

I would say Bridge Blocker Chris is a hypocrite, but that doesn't do the him justice.

Children require guidance. Theyoften are confused about who and what they are, and that is the whole reason they HaVE parents. And parents are not always perfect. Some are bad and some terrible. Society can and must protect kids from the really bad ones.

Would Christie have prosecuted John Phillips for his repeated statutory rape and sodomy of his daughter McKenzie? If so why? He was her dad, after all, and it should have been up to him, not some government agency, right? And what John Phillips did to his daughter was only emotionally destructive; what these parents are doing to their kids will physically mutilate them for life. Pedo John was kinder.

Tere is nothing "Conservative" about this amoral and degenerate viewpoint.

The Thought Slavemasters

Timothy Birdnow

Most would call it inhuman slavery of the mind. Liberals call it 'better living through science'.
Liberals have used science at the service of their ideology for a long time. Consider Sigmund Freud, whose theories were so destructive to Western sexual morality, or the work of Margaret Mead which propagated the false belief in the infinite malleability of human nature and advanced the Free Love Movement. Mead has been shownby Derek Freeman to be spectacularly wrong, and likely purposefully so. Liberals have advanced their worldview through countless acts of subversion through science. The DDT ban. The nuclear freeze movement. Global Warming. We have witnesses the abuse of science for well over a century.
And that abuse has always extended to the human mind. Psychology, psychoanalysis, sociology have all been attempts to understand the human thought process, and frequently to alter it. Consider the rise of modern propaganda; the work of people like Edward Bernays would be seized upon by Joseph Goebbels in Nazi Germany to control the thoughts of the populace. New techniques utilizing recording technology, radio, (later) television, gave those who seek to inculcate their views powerful new ways to not just compel behavior but to control thought itself. Thought control is the ultimate end for Progressives; they have always wanted to fundamentally alter human nature. And now they may be at the point where they can do it. According to Roger Pielke Jr.:
"Chris Mooney, the author and blogger who once alleged a Republican "war" on science, is going back to that well one more time with a new book. In it he "explores brain scans, polls, and psychology experiments to explain why conservatives today believe more wrong things."
Mooney writes:
"here might be a combination of genes acting together that somehow predispose us to have particular politics, presumably through their role in influencing our brains and thus our personalities or social behaviors ..,"Mooney promises to explain:
"
he real, scientific reasons why Republicans reject the widely accepted findings of mainstream science, economics, and history—as well as many undeniable policy facts."Gee, with an understanding of the "real, scientific reasons" behind such a disability, perhaps scientists might develop some sort of medicine or gene therapy for "Republicanism." The search for such a cure would not occur for political reasons, of course, but for humanitarian reasons. The obvious mental impairments suffered by these misguided and genetically inferior people are, of course, not their fault, but perhaps aided by science, we can help them. The Left has been using this old saw for a long, long time; I direct your attention here.The Soviet Union frequently used the psikhushka, or psychiatric hospital, to break dissidents; the claim was that anybody who couldn't see the benefits of the glorious socialist revolution and who did not have some sort of privilege to protect must be crazy. There is great merit for the Left in calling the other side insane. Remember, the fundamental underlying assumption in Liberal thought has always been that Man is inherently good, and Liberalism is rational-- and if that is so then those of good will MUST be liberals! Either that, or they must either have some personal benefit to gain, or be insane. Nobody could actually oppose their worldview sincerely without being insane or self-serving! And, of course, if they are insane, they must be treated medically. Which is precisely why socialized medicine is so important to the advancement of the leftist agenda; if the medical profession is a government service then it is easy to suppress your enemies on medical grounds. Doctors could report "latent right wing tendencies" to the authorities as they might note latent schizophrenia. Efforts could be undertaken to suppress this dangerous malady before it metastasizes. A few years back I wrote about a junk science study (which no doubt figures into Chris Mooney's book) which claimed that liberal brains are more flexible than those of conservatives. This poorly conducted research by a group of political liberals illustrated that it is possible to manipulate science to say what one wants. But the point is it is intended to establish a medical distinction which lays the grounds for later suppression of conservatives. Citing an earlier study from 2003 (which included a member of the later team) I quoted the press release;
"Four researchers who culled through 50 years of research literature about the psychology of conservatism report that at the core of political conservatism is the resistance to change and a tolerance for inequality, and that some of the common psychological factors linked to political conservatism include: Fear and aggression, Dogmatism, and intolerance of ambiguity, Uncertainty avoidance, Need for cognitive closure, Terror management"
If this is hardwired into the brain, if such bad things as resistance to change and tolerance for inequality and aggression Dogmatism are biologically driven, would it not be incumbent upon medical science to find a cure? Why not use medicine to "cure" such a psychosis? And given the increasing understanding of the human brain, the ability to "cure" conservatives becomes terrifying. It is fast becoming possible to medically circumvent free will. In point of fact, these possibilities have been understood by those coming out of the Left; consider the science used to shape individuals in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Consider this fun little gadget. Invented by the Saudis, it is essentially a tiny GPS system designed to be inserted into the body and thus allowing the government to track the "registered” person’s movements. A slight modification would allow this device to inject a lethal substance into the subject with the push of a button (thus making it similar to the slave control device from Star Wars Episode One-the Phantom Menace). Cutting edge technology will soon make it possible to control the populace at the neurological level, giving the ultimate power to leftist tyrants. Consider this research into using ultrasound to remotely affect human brains. Improvement in sonic lenses and the use of pulsed sonic waves opens the door to tampering with previously mapped portions of the brain. These sound waves can excite or inhibit certain brain functions, meaning that it should be possible to develop a neural remote control, possibly with a receiver on a person’s forehead. (Does anybody remember the remote control in the remake of The Stepford Wives?) Now, the mind and the brain are different things, and fine control of a person’s thoughts seems unlikely, but control of the ancient, mammalian portions of the brain -- those portions controlling motor functions and emotions -- may be entirely possible. This is scary stuff. Here is another disturbing development; neuroscientists have mapped out the areas associated with social relationships. Apparently, these lie in the left and right inferior temporal lobes, orbitofrontal cortex and ventral striatum, and the left putamen and pallidum, as well as lower gray matter in the left and right cerebellum. According to one of the researchers: "Professor Simon Baron Cohen, of the Autism Research Centre in Cambridge, said: "This is an important study in showing that the degree to which we find socializing rewarding is correlated with differences in brain structure. "It reminds us that for some people, socializing is an intrinsic reward, just like chocolate or cannabis. And that what you find rewarding depends on differences in the brain."So, scientists now know what parts of the brain tie in with sociability. Liberals, as we all know, are very social critters. Perhaps conservatives require some brain alterations to make them more amenable? Apparently this isn’t as impossible as it sounds; researchers have found that deep brain electrode stimulation can trigger the generation of new neurons in mice. Here is the pertinent point about all this: "After the electro-stimulation therapy, they injected the mice with iododeoxyuridine, a substance that allows experts to analyze which neurons are active, and which are not. After training the animals to a simple task, Stone looked at their brains, searching for a protein called Fos. This protein is associated with learning, and takes only 90 minutes to form. He learned that the Fos levels in both natural and artificially-produced neurons were the same. "These new neurons aren’t just sitting around doing nothing,” he concluded. ” In short, electrode stimulation can generate new brain tissue that will allow people to learn far certain things far more quickly. So, what will our future overlords require of us? Perhaps our wise and noble leaders in Washington can develop this technology to turn us all into tofu-loving, granola-eating, hybrid-driving liberals through better science? Children could have their brains manipulated to make them more "sociable” i.e. more liberal. Wouldn't a man like Richard Dawkins advocate eradicating "superstitions” like God, through manipulations of the brain? With psychic manipulation, coupled with a reinforcement machine like that sonic brain gadget, it should be possible to create the ultimate voting public. And why would anyone on the Left object? Liberals have always seen free will as an inconvenience to their plans, and they have traditionally labored to devise methods to control what people think and how they feel. The old Soviet Union had many techniques for brainwashing individuals, including sleep deprivation, propaganda, drugs. To the Left -- especially to the materialistic atheists on the Left -- Man is but a series of conditioned responses, and free will is merely an illusion, the product of random, deterministic processes. Modern neuroscience has been used to buttress this position, since we have been learning about the different areas of the brain and how they relate to thought and behavior. At the core of all Leftism is the notion that human beings are ultimately mere cogs in a grand machine, and that they are the engineers who design this machine. Free will is relegated to a dusty notion from the past. That is why liberals are soft on crime; criminals act solely on the basis of their biological drives and the conditions under which they were raised. It isn’t their fault! Attempts to reform them have failed thus far, but if they had machines such as these… This materialism is the heart and soul of liberalism, and all of the Left’s seemingly crazy ideas stem from this central concept. The welfare state, weakness on national security, monetary policy, all stem from a lack of faith in human free will. Liberals believe Man is inherently good, yet they think Man is incompetent because of poor planning and leadership. If they could find a way to impose their views, not just grudgingly, but to insert them into the hearts and minds of the individual… The late science fiction writer and biologist, Isaac Asimov, dealt with the concept of mind control in his Foundation series. He argues that actually sensing and controlling thoughts -- those little voices in our heads -- is not something that could be done, at least not for a long time. Asimov believed that the more fundamental aspects of the brain could be manipulated. In his Foundation stories there was a type of sense possessed naturally by the character of the Mule and induced in people with natural proclivity by the Second Foundation whereby the "telepath” could "see” emotions in other people, much as sharks can "see” neural activity in their prey (sometimes by as much as 50 miles). Not only could these people sense emotions, but they could reach out and manipulate those emotions, setting them where they wanted them. Asimov explains that this is a result of magnetic resonance; the telepath’s brains could enter into magnetic resonance with the brain of the victim, then could alter the neural flow by changing their own flow in a special organ inside their brains. And in the Foundation series this was a mighty ability; the most hated enemy could be made into the most loyal friend, people could be motivated to achieve higher intellectual states, anything was possible (including execution through emotional control for the most horrific death that could be meted out.) But this power was a natural function of the human brain in Asimov, and obviously the amount of energy that the human brain could project would be limited. We could do a far better job with a mechanical device and a power source. We could create the ultimate horror. Which is why it is not so much a matter of if as of when; tyrants have always wanted this power, and with the help of irresponsible science and materialistic liberals, this power will be theirs. It will be sold to the public as a matter of great good; a device to control depression or bi-polar or obsessive-compulsion. Later, it could become a vehicle for giving pleasure aka science fiction writer Larry Invents wireheads. But the time will come when these techniques will be used to control the public, control the hearts and minds of people. This would be slavery beyond any in human history. And there is a tendency towards this in so many new technologies; "smart meters” to tell electric customers about their energy usage habits can easily be adopted to control energy usage and give this information to the government, for example. (In Britain they have overflights of neighborhoods with infrared viewers to see who is wasting energy.) Liberals are always willing to tell people how to live for their own good. People frequently do not listen. They will have to be made to obey, nay, to BELIEVE! Communist countries have long treated anti-communists as mentally ill, and put them in sanitariums. A machine that could make a person into a liberal would be a Godsend, if they believed in God. I fear He will be the first casualty of these new technologies. But then, God Himself does not make people think the way He wants. Only Liberals do that.

Climate Change is NOT the Cause of Olive Oil Decline

Timothy Birdnow

The world's olive oil crop was poor the last two years so naturally the media and the Gang Green are blaming Global Warming.

Wine grapes and olive trees generally grow in the same areas. So why did California have a bumper crop this year? It is a mighty selective form of climate change that ruins olive harvests but not grape harvests.

And just to be clear, it wasn't just in California; =https://www.decanter.com/wine-news/champagne-harvest-2023-a-bumper-crop-511943/][linChampagne[/link] saw a bumper crop as well. Ditto in England. And Portugal][/lin Australia had a disappointing crop, but in 2021 had [link=https://winetitles.com.au/bumper-harvest-in-2021-what-does-it-mean-for-growers/]record production. That was just two years ago. New Zealand did well in wine production this year.

So why is it climate change that has made olive production drop?

Spain, one of the world's largest producers, had a major drought (as did Italy) which spiked prices. But that hardly is a result of "climate change" as in 2020 Spain had a bumper crop. Iwould add uruguay hada bumper olive oil crop this year.

IF this were caused by a warming planet caused by carbon dioxide we would see a crash in all areas, not just in key growing districts.

The reality is key growing areas were hit by droughts - nothing the least uncommon about that. We are in an El Nino year, after all. And the El Nino was expected to hurt olive oil pruduction. See also this.El Nino is usually associated with drought conditions in the Mediterranean.

This is but another ruse to make people panic and hand over our civilization to the social engineers.

Pearl Harbor Day

Timothy Birdnow

Today is Pearl Harbor Day, the 82nd  anniversary of the sneak attack on America by the Empire of Japan, turning what had been a European war into WWII.

2400 people died in the attack, a record number until the 911 attacks in 2001. (The deadliest battle in American history was Antietam with 3,675 killed, but that was purely a military engagement and was fought entirely by Americans.)

At any rate today marks the American entry into the War.

The sad thing is America had broken the Japanese code, but in the flurry of messages were unable to get the information in time.

Fortunately  the Roosevelt Administration suspected danger and had many of the ships out on maneuvers when the attack came - or they got lucky.

Admiral Yamamoto, the architect of the plan, had never wanted to attack the U.S. Yamamoto had  attended Harvard from 1919 to 1921 and had seen the awesome industrial might of America, and the toughness of the American People. He knew Japan couldn't win a protracted war.

His plan was aquick, decisive strike; destroy  the American fleet, then invade California. He knew America had not been invaded since the War of 1812 and the shock of foreign troops on American soil would be enough to get the country to make a peace deal - one with VERY generous terms. In fact Yamamoto figured the Japanese would probably lose ground on the peaqce deal BUT would get a guarantee the Americans would leave them alone in Asia.

Yamamoto said he would run wild for six months and then the industrial power of America would turn the tide; the war needed to be over before then.

It wasn't. And Yamamoto would be killed at Bougainville, New Guinea, when his plane was shot down by a P-38 shell (in what was known as "Operaton Vengeance").

At any rate Yamamoto'sworst fears were realized and American industrial might kept producing new ships, new planes, new guns while America's higher population meant they could keep sending men to die while every Japanese soldier was a loss Japan could not spare.

I wrote about this years ago, about how  a series of American decisions and actions, starting with Commodore Perry, led us to Pearl Harbor. Read it here.

Brave and honorable if cruel, the Japanese warriors had little respect for the Americans until they came face to face with us. It wasn't just technology and weapons that made America win the war, and they learned about the bravery and strength and fortitude of the American solodier in due course.

So on this Pearl Harbor day let us hoist a glass in memory of the brave soldiers, and of those who perished in the vile sneak attack.

Chanukah Blessings!

Timothy Birdnow

This is a particularly poignant Chanukah given the state of things and the attacks on Judaism and Jews by enemies foreign and domestic. For all of my Jewish friends know you are not alone and we are many who will stand with you! G-d bless you all and have a very happy and blessed Chanukah!

Chanukah, or Hannukah, memorializes the victory of the Maccabees over the Seleucids, and the liberation of the Temple and it's rededication is the event celebrated.

Read  more here and here.k][/lin

Sherrie Mathieson

The Chanukah story cannot be more relevant than today. Not since WWII have we felt this more acutely. Today, as then, it's about much more than the survival for Jews. It's about religious freedom and today's civilized world against intolerance, bigotry, and hate. It's a battle against ignorance and barbarity.
Let's all celebrate Chanukah, beginning today--and pray that all the progress we've achieved in the civilized world--will become our reality again.

Little Girl Forced to Sleep with Trannie

Timothy Birdnow

A Colorado school made an 11 year old girl share a bed with a biological male who "identifies" as a girl.

We all knew this was coming.

Neither the child nor her parents were told this was going to happen by the school authorities.

The summer trip sponsored by the school had been planned with the input of parents in several meetings. The  school officials assured the parents girls and boys would be housed on different floors. Nobody said anything about trannies though.

This is how the Left promotes it's agenda, by lying and manipulation.

The Liar Christopher Wray

Timothy Birdnow

Here is why FBI Director Christopher Wray must be impeached. He's a serial liar and a man happy to suppress political opposition to the Ruling Junta.

Wray told John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) that it was an election year so he coldn't confirm the validity of HunterBiden's laptop.

But that's not all he did; he specifically permitted a lie to stand - the lie that the laptop was "Russian disinformation" when he knew that was not the case.

When pressed Wray said he couldn't speak for other government agencies. Perhaps not, but he COULD very much speak for the FBI, which actually had the laptop. If the CIA was claiming it was disinformation Mr. wray was duty bound to admit there was indeed a laptop and it was part of an oncoing investigation. He needn't say more.

Trump screwed the pooch when he appointed this corrupt jackass.

Willis and J6 Committee Colluded

Timothy Birdnow

The J6 Committee colluded with Fanni Willis in Georgia to attack Donald Trump.

According to Jim Jordan the J6 Committee wasn't just colluding with Federal Prosecutor Jack Smith but also with Willis in Fulton Col. Georgia.

Jordan has a letter dated Dec. 17, 2021 from Willis requesting privileged information from the Select Committee to use in a prosecution of Mr. Trump.

Many of the documents requested by Willis were destroyed by the Committee Democrats, or so they claim. They are telling the House Committee these no longer exist.

I'ts obvious there were crimes committed, but not by the former President.

Willis  needs to be prosecuted, as does Jack Smith and Letitia James.

The Lie of Ocean Acidification

Jim Church forwards this from Jim Steele:

Un-refutable Evidence of Alarmists’ Ocean Acidification Misinformation in 3 Easy Lessons

1. The Undisputed Science: The upper panel illustration shows how CO2 breaks down into 3 different molecules when CO2 combines with water, collectively called Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC). First one of water’s H+ ion pops off to form Bicarbonate ions. Bicarbonate ions now contribute over 90% of the oceans current DIC (red curve) . Another H+ proton pops off to form Carbonate ions which constitue ~9% of DIC (green curve). No more than 1% of invading CO2 remains as CO2 (blue curve).

The added H+ ions can make the water more acidic. The pH scale indicates H+ concentration. At pH 2 there is 1 part H+ for every 100 (102) parts water. At that low pH, there are so many H+ that they are more likely to re-join bicarbonate ions, nearly 99% of the DIC remains as CO2. At pH 10, H+ ions are rare, 1 part H+ for every 10,000,000,000 (1010) parts water. With so few H+ to re-join carbonates and bicarbonates, DIC is ~ 90+% carbonate ions.

Distilled water has pH 7. It is considered the neutral pH because the H+ ions that pop off a water molecule are balanced by the negative OH- ions (alkalinity). In comparison, ocean water at pH 8.1 is 10 times less acidic than distilled water because the Bicarbonate ions and Carbonate ions are great buffers that can re-join with H+ ions and prevent the water from becoming as acidic as distilled water.

2. The Dissolving Snail Shell Hoax: The middle panel is NOAA’s insidious illustration of a dissolving shell of a dead sea butterfly in 7.8 pH water, a pH that models predict will occur from continued burning of fossil fuels.

First, consider that living sea butterflies’ shells, and virtually every mollusk shell, have a protective organic covering that prevents any shell dissolution. Likewise living coral polyps protect their reef skeleton.

Second, consider that the dead shell would have dissolved faster in the more acidic pH 7 of distilled water. Thus the addition of CO2 and its buffering molecules actually slow down any shell dissolving by maintaining ocean pH at 8.1 to 7.8.

3. The Reduced Calcification Hoax: Shells and reefs are made of calcium carbonate. The hoax abuses one true scientific factoid: At a lower pH, the added H+ ions will re-join with the ocean’s buffering carbonate ions. That reduces sea water’s available carbonate ions by converting them to bicarbonate ion. So, alarmists’ falsely claim acidification will reduce seawater’s carbonate ions, making it more difficult to make calcium carbonate shells or reefs.

The truth is: not a single researcher has detected in any shell or reef making organism an ability to import carbonate ions directly from sea water to make their shells or reefs. They all only import CO2 and the abundant bicarbonate ions, which they then convert internally to a carbonate ion.

As in the lower panel illustration of the steps in coral calcification, CO2 (highlighted by blue rectangle) which has no charge, freely passes through the corals outer lipid membranes. Once inside, an enzyme converts CO2 into bicarbonate ions which traps bicarbonate ions because charged ions cannot pass freely through membranes.

Then, special bicarbonate transporters (highlighted by green rectangles) allow bicarbonate ions to pass through membranes and into the space where the reef skeleton is made. Again, no carbonate transporters have been detected to allow import of carbonate ions.

In contrast, the calcium pump imports calcium ions for reef making directly from the seawater, but because they are positively charged, they must also pump H+ ions out of the reef making space to maintain an electrical balance. Conveniently, pumping H+ ions out also raises internal pH and causes the imported bicarbonate ions to convert to the required carbonate ions. The shell-making chemistry of all mollusks is very similar.

Finally, the calcium and newly converted carbonate ions combine to form the calcium carbonate building blocks for reef skeletons and shells.

Thus, any acidification that converts sea water carbonate ions into bicarbonate ions is actually helping reefs and shell-making which only absorb the critical CO2 and bicarbonate ions. Knowing the real science, I can no longer trust the IPCC or NOAA’s acidification alarmism misinfoMay be a graphic of map and textrmation.

Imagine that, a delay in government. I've always thought the goal to go all electric by date certain was a pipe dream. How hard can it be to install chargers? Is the permit process a nightmare or something (my local building departments have become totalitarian). I saw a local college installed chargers, no clue if funding came from the same source, so I'm a tiny bit skeptical.

Congress provided $7.5B for electric vehicle chargers. Built so far: Zero.

Will wonders never cease?

The whole filthy scheme is unraveling.

The Word

Bob Clasen

Human beings like to believe they have the word of God written down in a book, handed down from their ancestors, given by God to Saints or prophets or Sages of old. Since there are quite a few holy books handed down throughout the world in quite a few very different religions, it is a little hard to tell which book(s) is the right one. And members of the same religion also have their quarrels, some quite heated, about the true meaning of their sacred book(s) and which parts qualify.

I find it interesting to read these various books and contemplate the mysteries of life that my ancestors have also tried to understand. I like some ideas in these traditions but think others not worthy of God.

I personally suspect that the actual word of God is Reality, and who else but God could have written it? Reality is open to all people in all times and places. It has no favorites.

My peculiar theory has the advantage of resolving any possible contradiction between science and religion.

But if clinging to your favorite Holy Book makes you happy, I am happy for you. If it satisfies you completely and answers all your questions, that is wonderful.

With respect to morality, I treat this as a matter for reason more than revelation (reason is also God given). Moral actions are actions which are voluntary and mutually beneficial. Immoral actions are inflicted on others by force and not mutually beneficial. This is simple enough idea for most children to understand. The difficulty is with government which uses compulsion but claims it is for the "greater good.” This is where most of the disagreements come.
