This is mildly interesting; the biggest landowners in America.

This is, of course, after the U.S. government.

The largest landowner is a timber company owner on the west coast named Red Emmerson.

But what interested me was the two names a few steps down. Number three is Ted Turner, the media moghul, with two million acres. Given Turner's environmentalism I suspect he owns this land to keep it fallow.

Who is the largest farmowner? Why it's none other than Doctor Evil himself, Bill Gates! Yes, Gates owns more farmland than anyone in America. Now why do you suppose that is?

I'm still trying to figure out what he is doing with all that farmland. Gates is into environmentalism, but he seems to be into darker things (like unwitting contraception and the Great Depop.) so what is he doing with so much farmland? Infecting food with his contraceptives, or something even more sinister?

Gates owns 260,000 acres.

Shanda Investment Group founder and Chinese national Tianqiao Chen as the owner of almost 200,000 acres of Oregon timberland, making him the largest private foreign landowner (Canada owns more than he).
