Went to Sam's Club yesterday. There were some chickens, chicken thighs and breasts. But they were totally out of pork chops.

The pork shortage at the Sams club was probably due to truck driver shortage which has delayed shipment. I went to my usual store 3 weeks again and they had no chicken. Went last week chicken display was full but the beef section was wiped out ,but they did have some pork.

Also from the same site they have been tracking the closings of meat packing plants.They make a great observation that they did not report. Because of the glut of meat in warehouses the chances that some of these places closing down because of the glut may have happened anyway.
As far as Mr Tyson Chicken I think he is angling for higher consumer prices and a piece of federal bailout money.
If there are going to be shortages I look for that to happen next year. If the farmers,suppliers, can weather the storm then even then it may not be.I have seen several stories and pictures of rotting fruit and destroyed animals in piles because farmers cannot get rid of their products. The problem I have with these stories is the photos all lacked time stamps.So who knows when the pictures were taken. Our doom and gloom media is notorious for running stories with pictures taken at a different time and in some cases a different country.

You raise a good point, Mike, about time stamps. Even in these days of "respect for the elderly," my wife and I are not early shoppers (for various reasons), and it's very possible that going to the store early might net us some piggie meat that's not otherwise there. Also perhaps a nice leg of lamb.

I haven't had much trouble finding meat, although not always exactly what I want. Went to the store and had to settle for T-bone steaks rather than Ribeye, for example. But there WAS steak, and pork, and chicken. But I wonder how long that will last with the distrubution down.
Mike you make a great point.
BTW, as I said in the article, I am pretty sure they are going to use this to bring in Latino workers to the meat packing plants as part of the "stimulus" because they are going to say they need them and Trump won't dare not give people what they say they need.
This thing was a nice little box with a well-tied bow.

There was an article on Twitchy today saying that Tyson's view is, shall we say, not shared by all in the meat business, that there are ample reserves stored. I don't have the link available at this time but perhaps I can get it again.
