American Thinker just published a blog piece called "What happens when Ruth Bader Ginsburg leaves the Supreme Court?" by Peter Skurkiss. It is a well written piece about what will happen when Ginsburg steps down from the bench (by illness or death). However, I added a comment concerning the "Elephant in the Room," namely that Ginsburg brought this problem on the Democrats by not resigning during the Obama administration.
I wrote this comment in reply and had a civil exchange with another reader:

What's missing from this piece is the fact that the egotistical Ginsburg could have "taken one for the team" and stepped down from the bench during the Obama administration. She then could have gone on a "victory tour" of speeches across the country for the rest of life or as long as she was relatively healthy. Obama would, of course, have nominated a hard leftist masquerading as a liberal to replace her and the GOP Senators would have gone along with this plan. By betting on the "sure thing" election of a Pres. Hillary, Ginsburg gambled big with the Democrat Party future. And she wound up hurting the Democrats. I was going to say that she gambled with "her party's future" but we see now that Ginsburg's real party is her own ego. I bet there are many loyal Democrats cursing Ginsburg in private, especially professional Democrat strategists and Democrat elected officials.

This brought a response from someone with the screen name of AboveMyPayGrade:

Ginsburg put her own ego ahead of her party's future?
And THAT makes her any different from any OTHER Democrat (most notably Obama and Hillary), uh, HOW exactly?

•AboveMyPayGrade, you make a valid point. But that still doesn't change the fact that she gambled and hurt the Democrat Party. After all, the rantings of Hillary concerning "Deplorables" and Maxine Waters' many rantings about anything both hurt the Democrat Party (not that I'm complaining). Both what you say and what I say are true.

•I once told a friend about an egomaniac they knew that this egomaniac was very religious. The problem was the egomaniac worshiped HIMSELF. The same goes for many Democrats.
AboveMyPayGrade replies again to Jack Kemp
I wasn't trying to REFUTE your point about Ginsburg hurting her party's future by not stepping down while Obama still had a Democrat majority in the Senate to be able to replace her with a MUCH younger leftist who would have secured her Supreme Court seat for the Left for the next 30 or more
years, because clearly you're absolutely correct, just making a wry observation that this seems to be SOP for the Democrats these days
