It was one wild swinging party at the FBI before James "Ashley Wilkes" Comey got canned. According to Fox News, journalists were buying information from all over the agency with all manner of gifts and beads and baubbles.
From the article: "We identified instances where FBI employees improperly received benefits from reporters, including tickets to sporting events, golfing outings, drinks and meals, and admittance to nonpublic social events," reads the report by the inspector general, Michael Horowitz.
But because the inappropriate gifts were outside the scope of the IG's look at the Clinton email investigation, Horowitz added that the DOJ watchdog "will separately report on those investigations as they are concluded."
Along with the FBI's cozy relationship with the media, Horowitz's report charges that officials in the bureau at "all levels of the organization" leaked information to reporters without authorization."
end excerpt.
There were scores of people identified, and some of the leaks were made with phones inside the Bureau itself.
I was under the impression it was a crime to leak such information.
There were also numerous cases of e-mailed hatred and contempt for Donald Trump and the voters who supported him. Also from Fox:
"On Aug. 8, 2016, the IG found, Page asked Strzok "[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!†and Strzok replied "No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it."
[...]
"The watchdog identified five other unnamed individuals, including two agents and one FBI attorney who worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe until earlier this year, who made "statements of hostility toward then-candidate Trump and statements of support for candidate Clinton," and improperly mixed "political opinions" with case-related discussions"
[...]
"According to the IG report, one FBI attorney who was later assigned to Mueller's Russia probe until earlier this year messaged another colleague "Viva le resistance†after Trump's election. The attorney acknowleged the message could create the "perception" of bias.
Another unnamed agent called Trump supporters "retarded," according to the IG report. "
End excerpts.
And it has been proven now that Barack Obama openly lied to the American People when he said he had no knowlege of Hillary's secret e-mail account because the IG identified Obama as one of her interlocutors.
This is only scratching the surface; there are innumerable other issues (such as Lisa Page being the one to suggest that Hillary not be interviewed by a full contingent of agents so as not to anger a possible future President) and people should be going to jail over this.
Needless to say, Inspector General Horowitz - an Obama appointee - ducked out in the end in Comey like fashion, saying there is no smoking gun evidence of bias in this, even though numerous agents in positions of power showed clear bias. As Comey did with Hillary, Horowitz stops short at the end, so as not to put himself on the chopping block and to throw a lifeline to the Swamp where he has so long resided.
