This is a particularly poignant Chanukah given the state of things and the attacks on Judaism and Jews by enemies foreign and domestic. For all of my Jewish friends know you are not alone and we are many who will stand with you! G-d bless you all and have a very happy and blessed Chanukah!
Chanukah, or Hannukah, memorializes the victory of the Maccabees over the Seleucids, and the liberation of the Temple and it's rededication is the event celebrated.

The Chanukah story cannot be more relevant than today. Not since WWII have we felt this more acutely. Today, as then, it's about much more than the survival for Jews. It's about religious freedom and today's civilized world against intolerance, bigotry, and hate. It's a battle against ignorance and barbarity.
Let's all celebrate Chanukah, beginning today--and pray that all the progress we've achieved in the civilized world--will become our reality again.
