I
have to say this whole idea caught me by surprise. When I was younger,
canned beer was considered a convenience ONLY. You drank canned beer
because
Bottled beer wasn't available at your location
You were at a park that didn't allow glass
You were drinking with a bunch of lower-class schlubs who didn't give a damn as long as it was beer and it was cold
A
six-pack of canned beer weighed less than a six-pack of bottles, you
and the guys had to carry the stuff in by hand and you were going for
volume
other reasons
But beer in cans
somehow always represented the "redneck fringe" or the lower end of the
scale -- even though most rednecks preferred longnecks. Now here are
professional beer writers https://www.foodandwine.com/news/yards-philadelphia-pale-ale] waxing rhapsodic over canned beer? The world
has truly changed, and I'm not sure I can catch up with it.
