Joy Behar; the Female Michael Avenatti

Dana Matheweson

Did you see where Joy Behar [linl=https://dailycaller.com/2018/11/15/joy-behar-criticizes-cma-not-political/]castigated the CMA for NOT making a big fuss about politics? She said everybody has an obligation to make everything political these days. Sheesh!

Jack Kemp adds:

Joy Behar. Her former Jewish husband divorced this Italian idiot decades ago.

I used to hear her on WABC Radio in NY in the 1990s. One day this "feminist" was away from her show and the program director John Mianelli covered for her. He also outed her as working on a part in a Woody Allen movie. This was well after Woody's scandal with his 17 year old gal Soon Yi became public. Joy the Feminist, until she has a chance to make a dollar. I went on the air, calling Mianelli or some other WABC host, and told them that Behar used to rail against Joey Butafuocco, the lover of the "Long Island Lolity" Amy Fisher. But, I added, the only things she had against Buttafuoco was a) he worked with power tools and his hands and b) he didn't have a part in a major movie for Joy to be in.

Joy Behar is as egotistical as that porn lawyer Michael Avenatti. I have a few choice words for her in Italian - and Hebrew - but I won't be posting them here.

Weak Sun bringing record cold

Dana Mathewson

A lot of liberals are going to be, well, confused.

And I'll bet the Algore will flat-out disbelieve it. https://www.foxnews.com/science/nasa-warns-long-cold-winter-could-hit-space-in-months-brin ging-record-low-temperatures

From the article:

"That's the warning from a scientist who fears sunspot activity on the surface of our star has dropped so low that record low temperatures could soon set in.

"We see a cooling trend,” says Martin Mlynczak of NASA’s Langley Research Center.

"High above Earth’s surface, near the edge of space, our atmosphere is losing heat energy.

"If current trends continue, it could soon set a Space Age record for cold.”

Crime and Punishment, not Crime and Pardons

Jack Kemp forwards this:

The New Norm: Crime, But Not Punishment

From the Townhall article by Ilana Mercer :

"In the title of his magisterial book, Fyodor Dostoevsky paired "Crime and Punishment" not crime and pardons, or crime and Civics lessons amnesty and asylum.

Punishment must closely follow a crime in order to be both effective as a deterrent, as well as to serve as a public declaration of values and norms.

In explaining Texas justice and its attendant values, stand-up satirist Ron White performed the public service no politician is prepared to perform. "In Texas, we have the death penalty and we use it. If you come to Texas and kill somebody, we will kill you back."
"
So, where's such clarity when you need it?

Senate Republicans Are Blocking Trump Appointments

Jack Kemp

Here is what your "moderate" Never Trump acquaintances (and their allies in the U.S. Senate) are doing to the rest of us who support Trump. Namely, they are keeping judgeships and other positions open and blocked from having pro-Trump officials who would work to Make America Great Again. It was moderates like this, such as the non-fighting Norm Coleman, that lead to Al Franken stealing his first election to the Senate with a "magical" group of last minute votes found in a car trunk or a closet or wherever.

Senate Republicans Are Blocking Trump Appointments

From the article:

"President Trump has hundreds of unfilled presidentially-appointed positions because Democrats have stalled the nominations process out as much as their diminished power in the post-nuclear Senate has allowed.

But it is the Republican majority that has placed a total blockade on the usual safety valve for temporary appointments - the recess appointment power - by refusing to go on recess for the last two years. And with Democrats set to take the House and be in position to deny the Senate consent to recess starting January 3, there is a real possibility that President Trump will go an entire presidential term without being able to make recess appointments.

It has been nearly eight years since the United States Senate officially recessed - a streak aided by the practice of holding so-called pro forma sessions every three days throughout every adjournment. Those sessions - which consist of nothing but gaveling in and out and where, by unanimous consent, no business is conducted - serve a single purpose: to deny the president of the United States the recess appointment power, which is a constitutionally authorized power to temporarily install nominees to executive and judicial posts without Senate advice and consent

Tucker Carlson uncovers the cold heart of "Grey Poupon" Environmentalists

Jack Kemp

In reading sections of Tucker Carlson's new book "Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution," I came across a section on how environmentalists have changed. They are now a lot more interested in funding than in truly cleaning up the land. I will quote a section or two below but first I must say that - not surprisingly - this mirrors a story I've written about at the Aviary before, about a young environmentalist who gave me his business card showing his organization's address as 30 Broad Street (directly across from the New York Stock Exchange).

On pages 220 and 221 of Carlson's book he states:

BEGIN QUOTE

A few months after Obama's election, a friend of mine and I rented an office on Dupont Circle in Washington. We found the place on Craigslist. It was being sublet by an environmental group that was moving to new space in a more expensive part of town. One of the employees showed us around before we moved in. Two of the sinks in the office, he conceded, didn't really work. What's wrong with them? I asked.

With remarkable little embarrassment, he told me, "We repainted the inside of the office and then poured the paint down the sinks and it clogged them," he said.

You poured paint down a sink? Aren't you an environmental group? "Yeah," he said, "we shouldn't have done that."

END OF QUOTE

The "environmentalists" had received a big money grant to work on climate change, enabling them to move to their new location.

BEGIN QUOTE

Ocean Beach is a narrow strip of national parkland along the western edge of San Francisco. In 2015, the National Park Service removed all trash cans from along the beach's seawall...

Very soon, the beach became filthy. Large piles of garbage collected along the seawall, some of it left by the city's vast homeless population.

END OF QUOTE

Despite complaints by San Franciscans, the trash cans cans were not replaced. But the agency's website boasted of their video series on "climate change in national parks

Basically what these "idealists" are saying that the rules only apply to the "little people," the "deplorables." They don't apply to the government or non-government agencies that appear to be nothing more than virtue signaling hypocrites.

Backpacks for Life Shifts Gears on Kickstarter Campaign

Jack Kemp

I previously told our readers about Backpacks for Life's Kickstarter campaign to raise money to manufacture their new patent-pending backpacks. In fact the Kickstarter campaign will end very shortly, within a day or two, instead of thirty-five days.

So what happens to those people that pledged money on Kickstarter ? This is obviously an important question for both those that pledged and also of interest to many of those that did not. Looking at Kickstarter's website, I found this policy:

BEGIN QUOTE

Why is funding all-or-nothing?
All-or-nothing funding means that no one will be charged for a pledge towards a project unless it reaches its funding goal. This way, creators always have the budget they scoped out before moving forward.

END QUOTE

The Backpacks for Life website describes the changing campaign situation in this way:

BEGIN QUOTE

We have been working tirelessly to ensure our initiative is a success. With a great response to the backpack and a surge in press coverage, we've been contacted by an influx of veterans in need. Above all else, Backpacks For Life strives to provide them the very best assistance.
Extending the life of our campaign past 35 days (what it was on the Kickstarter) allows us to serve our veterans while continuing to put our all into The Bowery Pack.
We've decided to simplify things. Having The Bowery Pack campaign directly on our website provides a one-stop-shop to donate a pack, buy a pack or leave a tribute message in honor of a veteran in your life!
With your contributions we will be able to manufacture backpacks, distribute thousands to homeless veterans, and provide veterans with meaningful jobs and transferable skills that help them assimilate back into their civilian lives.

-Sgt. Brett D'Alessandro & Alexa Modero
Founders of Backpacks For Life

Substitute Teacher Fired for Thanking Students for Saying Pledge of Allegiance

Timothy Birdnow

A substitute teacher in the Parkway South School District in suburban St. Louis County, Mo. was fired after thanking students for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

"A substitute teacher who has taught for years at Parkway South High School claims school administrators banned him from working there after he thanked students for saying the Pledge of Allegiance and a student complained.

The substitute teacher, Jim Furkin, told the Parkway School Board his story at their meeting Wednesday night and asked them to look into it.

"I’d like to know what happened,” Furkin said.

Furkin told the Post-Dispatch that in late October he was the substitute teacher for a freshman English class at Parkway South High when the school made its daily announcements over the PA system. After announcements, students are asked to stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance.

"So I say, ‘All right, let’s go,’ and we recite the pledge,” he said. "There are always two or three who don’t stand up because it’s not required. So at the end of the pledge I said, ‘Thanks to all of you that participated in that. I’m sure that all of those families who lost loved ones so that we could enjoy the freedoms we have today would appreciate the effort.’”

Furkin said a student asked to go to the school counselor’s office, so Furkin wrote the student a pass to go. Later on, he said, a school administrator questioned Furkin about what happened and told him that a student had been "hurt” by what was said after the pledge.

"I said, ‘Oh, I didn’t mean it that way, that wasn’t my intent at all,’” Furkin said. "He said ‘We’ll get back to you,’ and then the next day after that, I’m no longer welcome in the building.”

End excerpt.

America has gone mad. It is especially true in Academia/Education where Progressives have created an alternate universe where people get angry for saying the Pledge, or wearing flag shirts, or Marine hats.

And while students are told to be offended at every little thing, the reverse is never true. Take this story where a Colorado teacher was charged with child abuse for FORCING a student to stand for the Pledge last February. Or how about this incident in Blue Island, Illinois, from 2017 where a teacher got fired for confronting a student who refused to stand for the Pledge.

The Pledge of Allegiance is a pledge of citizenship for Americans. It has been around for a long time, and it is the way children are taught to understand the value and purpose of America, and to be good citizens. Citizenship has to be taught; it is not instinctual. This war on the Pledge is essentially a war on America itself.

It is despicable beyond words.

People seem to have forgotten that George H.W. Bush won his election over Michael Dukakis in no small part over his demand for legislation to protect the American flag. Radicals had been burning the flag and Bush wanted a law to make it illegal to do so. Dukakis disagreed, and history - and the American People - came down on the side of Bush.

A nation that refuses to teach her people to respect the country is destined for the ash heap of history. I suppose that would suit the Progressives just fine.

Stealing Elections for Fun and Profit

Timothy Birdnow

Conservative HQ explains how the Democrats are stealing the Florida election,

From the article:

"Ms. Ceballos reports that a day after Florida's election left top state races too close to call, a Democratic party leader directed staffers and volunteers to share altered election forms with voters to fix signature problems on Florida Recountabsentee ballots after the state's deadline.

The altered forms surfaced in Broward, Santa Rosa, Citrus and Okaloosa counties and were reported to federal prosecutors to review for possible election fraud as Florida counties complete a required recount in three top races, reported Ceballos.

But, says Ceballos, an email obtained by the USA TODAY NETWORK-Florida shows that Florida Democrats were organizing a broader statewide effort beyond those counties to give voters the altered forms to fix improper absentee ballots after the Nov. 5 deadline. Democratic party leaders provided staffers with copies of a form, known as a "cure affidavit," that had been modified to include an inaccurate Nov. 8 deadline."

Super Earth at Barnard's Star

Timothy Birdnow

A super-Earth has been found orbiting Barnard's Star, a red dwarf sun six light years from our solar system.

Space Daily gives us the story:

"An international group of astronomers, involving the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg, has succeeded in detecting a planet around Barnard's star, which is only six lightyears away.

The planet has just over three times the mass of Earth and is slightly colder than Saturn. The discovery was made by measuring the periodic change in the radial velocity of the parent star. The spectrograph CARMENES, developed to a large part by the MPIA, played an important role in this discovery.

But now astronomers have extracted a signal from 771 individual measurements they have collected over the recent 20 years, which points to a planet that at a distance of 0.4 astronomical units (1 au = 150 million km, mean distance between Sun and Earth) travels around its host star once within 233 days. The planet has been named Barnard's star b.

End excerpt.

Barnard's Star is the closest star to Earth that is a single system. Alpha Centuri, for instance, is a triple star system featuring the red dwarf Proxima, Alpha A (nearly identical to our sun), and Alpha b, another yellow star but smaller and cooler.

The discoverers theorize that Barnard B. is a cold desert:

"Since Barnard's star, a red dwarf star, only emits 0.4% of the Sun's radiant power, the planet Barnard's star b only receives about 2% of the intensity the Earth collects from the Sun. From this, the scientists conclude that the planet with an average temperature of about -170C is probably a hostile, icy desert, in which there is no liquid water. With a mass of at least 3.3 Earth masses, it belongs to the class of super-earths, i.e. exoplanets that fill the mass scale between Earth and Neptune."

End excerpt.

I wonder; certainly Saturn's moon Titan has a thick atmosphere and methane lakes. While Barnard B might not have liquid water, could it have liquid methane? Ah, but then it's close to the star, which may well have torn away the atmosphere over the course of time.

We live in exciting times.

Tom Ridge allowed Gosnell to run filthy abortion clinics, now wants to investigate Trump

Jack Kemp

The Hypocrisy of Tom Ridge's Checks and Balances

From the article:

In today's America it's tough for a politician to do something truly shocking.

But it has just been announced that Gov. Tom Ridge, the former head of Homeland Security and Pennsylvania Governor is one of the founders of an apparently conservative lawyers organization called Checks and Balances which they say will "expose President Trump's abuse of the Rule of Law."

That's not the shocking part - lawyers, conservative or otherwise, are of course entitled to organize and protest the president.

However what is shocking that one of the founding members of Checks and Balances is the Tom Ridge who when he was governor of Pennsylvania ordered an end to the legally required inspections of abortion clinics.

His actions allowed abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell to run a house of horrors where women died and children were butchered. Without the fear of annual inspections Gosnell was able to turn his abortion clinic into a murder factory. Hundreds perhaps thousands of babies were murdered. Several patients also died at his hands. Gosnell is now serving multiple life sentences in a PA maximum security prison but Tom Ridge has never really justified ending the inspections that would have revealed the house of horrors years before the doctor was detected.

Ridge's culpability is spelled out in horrifying detail in the report of the Grand Jury investigation into the clinic.

End excerpt.

Feminists now target white women

Jack Kemp

Wow, what truth. I could have written something similar but it wouldn't have the same authenticity, the same level of personal observation and experience as this article written by a woman.

The Money Quote:

"Telling young white people to "check" their white privilege or to hate themselves for their culture isn't just insanity, it's racist. What began as a feminist progressive movement united exclusively against white males has now openly set its sights on white women."

Divided We Fall; Obama's America

Dana Mathewson

This man sure knows how to call a spade a spade.

https://townhall.com/columnists/jessekelly/2018/11/13/obamas-divided-america-n2535842

Tim adds:

I think Obama was a symptom, not a cause. And I also would argue it's the news media pulling the strings, not the political establishment, so they are the ones to blame. Why has America become so divided? Because the news media, seeing their power slip away with changes in technology, became desperate to maintain their privileged position. So they are the ones who have ramped all this stuff up. They are the ones who gave Obama a platform, who hid his faults in an orgy of celebration. In the end it is the media who has embittered America.

Media delende est! As long as we have a hostile, anti-American news media controlling the dissemination of information and setting the tone for our national conversation we will continue to slide from a Cold to a Hot civil war.

Jack Kemp adds:

Of course the Left tried this at the Wellstone Memorial when Wellstone's son screamed like a kid at a high school football pep rally. But Wellstone's son did not have the cultural impact of a President of the United States like Obama.

Suffrage to Suffering: Women Empowered Democrats in Midterms

Selwyn Duke

Well, ladies, you did it again. No, not all of you. But here’s the reality: If only men had voted this election, the GOP would have held the House and picked up some seats. The Senate’s Republican majority would be even greater (than plus six or eight) and the Trump train would be full-steam ahead. But women breaking for Democrats by roughly 20 points made this impossible — and Mad Max (Waters) a committee chairman. Egads!

Here are the stats: Women constituted 52 percent of the electorate and went for Democrats 59-40. Men went for Republicans 51-49. Oh, don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t the guys’ finest hour, either; when almost half my fellow "men” are voting for the party of irrationality, well, we’re perhaps seeing the consequences of the recent decades’ 30-percent  drop in testosterone levels.

Yet this merely reflects a simple truth. Regarding voting, men really stink.
Women stink worse.

Almost Drinkable Beers

Dana Mathewson

The next-to-bottom selection, which means "almost drinkable," is Rolling Rock, which is sort of a cult favorite in places. I can boast (?) of having drunk it in one or more bars in the town where it's brewed, and there, where it hasn't traveled far, it's quite nice indeed. The town is Latrobe, PA, the heart of Arnold Palmer country, where half the businesses are (or were in the 1980s when I was there) owned by Arnold. One that isn't is Westmoreland County Airport, where I would fly into and out of on my way to and from Pittsburgh, and then back and forth from Buffalo. The airport always felt to me like a leather helmet and silk scarf operation as I disembarked from an Allegheny Airlines' DeHavilland Twin Otter, about the biggest thing the airport would handle, a plane I came to love. Upstairs in the main building was the Blue Angel bar, where my boss and I downed probably more than our share of alcoholic beverages while waiting to fly back home after a few days visiting one of our company's plants in Latrobe, usually in the company of two or three of the local employees
