Another Climate Fish Tale

The Aussies are going to let people from Tuvalu immigrate to escape "climate change".

Well, Vanuata is also making this claim yet is no smaller
But what of Tuvalu? Is it melting away as we speak?
No. In fact it is growing in size.

So how can the media and Australian authorities - claim it is sinking? They ASSUME. You know what happens when you assume.
They can look at beachfront areas and see a minimal loss of beachfront. Much of that is easily explainable by land use issues or because such islands always grow and shrink in places.
The Wired author didn't bother to look beyond page one of a Google search it seems. (Neither did I but Istill found all this.) And he takes as Gospel a report by the notoriously dishonest NASA.
So why is Tuvalu so interested in immigrating to Australia (the land of plenty, as Men withot Hats so eloquently put it)?
Here's why:
Why wouldn't a nation with just a few thousand people and limited resources not want to pawn off their poor on a nation foolish enough to take them?
As of 2010 a whopping 23% of the population lives below the poverty line in Tuvalu. Naturally the Tuvalan government wants desperately to get it's hands on money from the West and perhaps dump their problem citizens on the dufuses in Australia (sorry to my Aussie friends but a lot of your leaders fit that description.)
This is just another fish tale. Sadly so many in the West believe it.

Based on these estimates, 2.1 percent of the population in Tuvalu (0.2 thousand people in 2021) is multidimensionally poor while an additional 12.2 percent is classified as vulnerable to multidimensional poverty (1 thousand people in 2021) .

Bill, the multidimensional poverty index measures poverty beyond dollars and cents but looks at lifestyles, education, familial structure, housing, etc. There are people who are out of work who are not poor by this index despite having no money, while there are people with comfortable amounts coming in who are poor. In other words interdimensional poverty is a state of mind,a culture of poverty.
I used to deal with this when I worked for a prooperty management company. There were people down on their luck who had to find cheap places to live and then there were the professional poor, who lived that way as a lifestyle and passed it on to their children. These folks lived off the dole permanently. And they taught their kids these bad habits.
